Bug in adding new screen to an Activity

I am trying to add 2 more screens to some Activities on the watch but after pushing the + button and choosing Up Ahead or Route Elevation (or something else beside Custom Data) it looks like it is added to the activity( it disappears from the choosing list) BUT it does NOT being added to the activity screens

Tried it on the watch menu and from Garmin Connect on phone... same thing

Problem is that after closing and trying to add again these 2 fields , when I press + button(Add button) , these 2 options do not exist anymore in the screens that I could add to the activity

So many bugs

This exact thing happened on mine as well. And now up ahead is nowhere to be found. Fenix 8 47mm AMOLED, 11.60.

Update January 21, 2025:

Our engineers have found that this working as expected. The Up Ahead Data Field will only be displayed during an activity with a course which includes course points. A normal course will not work with Up Ahead and this Data Field will not display during an activity not following course points.

Laurie if you add Up Ahead Data Field it doesn't show up in the list of activity fields. You can't remove it (because it's not visible there). It's like it goes to limbo.

This is the exact same behavior I'm seeing trying to add the Climb Pro screen. I can add other non-custom data screens such as Virtual Partner, or Running Power, but not Climb Pro.

If I reset the activity settings it's there, when I select it as an added data screen it not only doesn't add, it simply vanishes from the list as well. And yes I've tested in actual real world use and no Climb Pro screen opens. I've done this back to back with my Edge, which works as expected. On my Fenix, Climb Pro simply doesn't exist.

This behavior is consistent across activities I've tried (bike, trail run, hike).

I have an open ticket with Garmin support. As I've always found, they are extremely helpful and genuinely interested but they don't have an answer yet. I've offered to create and send a video of trying to add the screen so the support team can see what I'm seeing.

Reason I'm responding when I have a ticket open is simply to reinforce the issue remains and is real.
