Configuring data screens for Navigation

I configured some Activities screens and I tried a Navigation when being on a Hike activity

When swiping left and entering Navigation lane there are only 3 or 4 screens with data

How can I configure these screens and add some more to this Navigation panel?

On Fenix 7 there is a Navigate Activity in which I can configure screens with data which will appear automatically when initiating a Navigate to ... a waypoint

On Fenix 8 I could't find Navigate activity and the screens that appear auto are very limited. I need more info like Vertical distance to destination,Time to next waypoint,Distance to next,Estimated total distance,Overall Ahead/Behind,Vertical speed to target,ETE,ETA  etc.

Thanks for helping

  • you can't, all those options are missing as of now.... which is a pitty. For now, create a new permanent screen with those... that's a pain to have it when not navigating, but no choice. Keep in minds that turn by turn is not either on navigating a course, but it is on other modes.

Add also that the number of courses that are shown on the UI (ie 65 ), is higher that what the wath can display, so if one is not visible, you have to delete activities to see further in the list... not kidding...

as for activities , indeed, it's not there.....

  • After spending a few hours trying different things :
    - it seems you can add some of the navigation screens (up ahead, elevation profile, map, climbpro) in activity settings. The problem is, once it's "added", you don't have access to it until you load a course. Once you do that, you can view and delete navigate screens. If you delete them, it seems they don't reappear when you start a new activity.
    - that said, you still can't edit settings for navigation on a general basis - which is a real downsize from Fenix 7 !! - and you still can't create custom screens specific to navigation as you could. Hard to swallow the pill considering the extra cost of the Fenix 8.

  • It's a shame that the navigation is such a mess on F8. Especially considering that Garmin was always a synonym for the navigation... Something terrible must have happened during development of the Fenix

  • I agree with the author, this is indeed a problem. I have had Fenix 3, 5X, 6X, and 7, and only in the 8th model the navigation data screens are inconveniently hidden and the customization options have been removed, which is terrible.
