Hello, Garmin team!
Hello, gang!
I changed my 7X Saphire Solar with the new 8 51mm AMOLED and I already did some trail running, swimming with the watch.
Basically, this watch is having all the things that I wanted my 7X to have. Like a brighter display ( my eyes are getting worse, and I'm having trouble with the MIP in the shadows), diving functions and voice memos.
So, after having a few sessions with the new watch, I notice a few minor things that may be improved.
The first thing was the gesture response time. I really would live to have a setting for that. I'm ready to sacrifice some battery life just to have a display with a better gesture response. It happened to me to turn my wrist and the display remains dark. And when running, it happens very often. The backlight on my 7X was never failing in such situations, so I guess it is more like a software issue.
That leads to the second issue. Since the display is a little bit laggy, I cannot use it when trail running downhill. It is simply dangerous. The time needed for me to take my eyes from the track just to wait for the watch to turn on the AMOLED ... it's just not the way this sport can be practiced. So having the ability to turn ON and OFF the always on display by SHORTCUT/HOTKEY may be the solution for this.
Other than that I'm very excited by the new interface and the watch as overall :) Great job Garmin team! Keep up the innovations :)
Thank you :)
