New futures from Fenix 8 in 2025

Will Garmin add some new(possible )futures from Fenix 8 to Fenix 7 pro and below models

Or 1 year off support after release is too much(7 pro)?

What do you think?

And from last update still not possible to use navigation( not enough memory error).....

  • "Clean" - that means that I reset watch and used them without installed apps and faces

Did you also set it up from the scratch or just did restore settings from backup?

And little side story which might give you example how software compatibility test complicated are.
Some time ago I was work in the team we developed couple small apps for internal use, one of these apps was Outlook plugin, all our tests were completed without errors and we release it to production.
Next day after release we started to receive support tickets because for one team in another country Outlook start to crash, problem was combination of our plugin and other one developed in that location we wasn't aware of. Separate both works fine, together they cause Outlook to crash.

It is why I've asked do you use any additional widgets, watch faces on your watch. Probably each was tested by developer but for sure nobody did test all of them together.

  • Thanks a lot for helping me, I just sell my F7PRO, and ordered 8pro:-) hope it will work better.

As for gpx: it is possible to import it from Garmin Connect?

  • As far as I remember I reset all. No any watch face or widget was installed

  • Normal companies have quality assurance departments who are responsible for testing and reporting SW bugs.

Garmin shouldnt outsorce that to its customers. Thats fckt up and will not end well.

  • As always, you should never expect new features to be added to your Garmin after purchase as these devices are considered more appliances than platforms (like phones). Any feature that is added should be considered a gift and is normally only done to align your watch with the competition from Apple, Coros etc.

I'm sure this position will change in time as Garmin start to earn money through subscription revenue streams, but that's how it is today and how it's been for years.

That said, my Fenix 7 is a fantastic training tool and I'm actually not compelled in the slightest to upgrade at this stage. These are sensational watches.

  • Well the planned feture list is on garmins website if you search for it. Nothing from fenix 8 is coming down to the 7 pro. https://www8.garmin.com/wearables/PDF/WearablesSoftwareUpdate/2025/May2025.pdf

You want pass code lock get a fenix 8, garmin dont want you to buy a £400 fenix 7 pro and have the same features as the new £1100 fenix 8 woul they?

Most annoying is the fact that they force you to set up 2FA for your login "for your privacy protection" but you cannot lock the fenix 7 pro with passcode "for your protection".  Please just lock your front door and leave the back door open for everyone. Disappointed If someone gets your watch they will easy just copy all the data off and know where you been what have you done, dont need the 2FA or even a simple passcode on the watch. Silly thing Disappointed

  • If someone gets your watch they will easy just copy all the data off and know where you been what have you done

Are you a special ops guy? Most of us are publishing our activities on Strava for the world to see. The worst case scenario is someone stealing my watch and lowering my VO2 Max value Laughing

  • I do not share or post my activities m8, my connect has "only me" settings. You do you , i do me.

  • Passcode is now available in the latest fenix 7 23.18 update.

  • You do you , i do me.

    And how's that working out?
