Picked up a 7x SS recently after owning a F6 for many years with no issues. Went for a 5k run with it and the heart rate reads as you can see below, terribly. for a few seconds, stops for a few minutes, reads again for a few seconds and the trend continues. (See image attached).
Strap is attached correctly, position on wrist is good. Green light is flashing. If I open the HR app it mostly just shows the following screen until sometimes it decides to measure

On your photo I noticed you have a tattoo on your arm / wrist. This could afffect HR reading.
Can you try wearing the watch on other hand if there is no tattoo?
Or flip the watch on your bottom…
