Garmin Fenix 7s solar start/stop button not working

Hi There , 

The button on my Fenix 7s has stopped working . And I can see there are multiple people with the same issue here.  Is it a manufacturing defect ?

How can this issue be resolved ?

  • You should contact Product Support. The device obviously needs to be replaced.

    Yes. Many people had same issue. Request replacement.

  • Is it new or fairly new? I had this problem on a new 5 Plus. Called Garmin and they sent out a replacement.

    Our daughter has a Fenix 7s that's about a year old and she hasn't reported any problems with it.

  • I have the opposite problem. Button is super squishy and activities easily. Like, if I bend my wrist it starts an activity.

    I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. If you have not already, I would recommend washing the buttons. For this, submerge the watch in warm/clean water for 10 minutes. Then press the buttons repeatedly, and dry thoroughly. If there is no change, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support, the device may need to be replaced. 

  • I have the opposite problem. Button is super squishy and activities easily. Like, if I bend my wrist it starts an activity. 

    Feeling give in the button can be a normal experience, as is being able to activate an activity with a wrist bend. For this, I would recommend considering enabling a button lock. This may need to be added as a control:

    1. Press and hold the Light button
    2. Press and hold the Menu button
    3. Select Add Controls
    4. Select Device Lock

    To activate Device Lock: 

    1. Press and hold the Light button
    2. Scroll to Device Lock
    3. Select this

    To unlock, press and hold any button

    If button is lose the extent it is not responding, please contact Garmin Product Support. The device will need to be replaced. 

  • I need to lodge a major complaint 
    This is my 2nd Fenix 7s Pro 
    With the 
    KNOWN FAULT WITH THE START STOP BUTTON 
    And NOW the Watch is Stuck on the Start Up Screen 
    And IS NOT Useable
    I've already plugged it into my laptop with Garmin Express
    Where Garmin Express can see the Watch 
    But 
    the WATCH Is still stuck on the start up screen 
    and I CANT do a hard reset as the start and Stop Buttons are Not working 
    This is the 2 Second Faulty Fenix 7s PRO 
    Which is insane for the money we pay 
    I have followed all the normal instructions of regular cleaning and washing of my watch in warm clean tap water
    And I'm careful with my watch 
    I use it for running and swimming 
    Thus there is no contact sport etc that could damage the watch
    But clearly despite being a waterproof watch
    The start stop button does not hold up to this 
    And this is the second Fenix 7s Pro to fail with the start stop button 
    Which is getting ridiculous
