Audio prompt not working on 20.22

  • Garmin Epix 2 Pro 51mm with 20.22 (I know, not a Fenix 7 but I guess this forum has more visibility than the Epix one and it should be the same way to debug both)
  • Pixel 7 Pro XL with latest update
  • Garmin Connect Android with latest update
  • Openrun Shokz Pro 2 with latest update

I cannot make Audio Prompt work on my watch, whatever I try to do and I don't know how to continue to debug this further.

My Openrun Pro 2 is connected to my phone and is not paired at all with my watch. This setup has worked in the past but I don't known when it stopped working.

I tried to change the Audio Prompt setting on my watch (enable/disable certain prompt, change language and voice, etc) just to trigger something but nothing. When I run, I don't have any audio prompt at all.

I see the lap on my watch but the audio does not come out as before.

I already tried soft reset and other tactics (reboot, power off, settings, etc).

How could I debug this further to make it work? Thanks!

  • Anybody has an idea? Still no audio prompt at all on my end...

  • I have been dealing with similar-ish for quite a while, though it is intermittent. Audio Prompts will work for weeks and then just stop. Below is my update on another forum post.

I have been tracking this more closely for Garmin and it appears the issue is with Garmin Connect getting into a state where it no longer sends audio alerts.  Recently, I was on a walk and Lap 1 did not trigger. I opened my phone, killed Garmin Connect, cleared app cache, and launch Garmin Connect. Lap 2 Audio Prompt went off like expected.
I also recently had Audio Prompts fail and even the test in the Garmin Connect app did not work.

--- To test Audio Prompts ---

    • Open Garmin Connect
    • Select your device icon in the top right
    • Select your device
    • Select Audio Prompts
    • Scroll to the bottom and press Volume (this will play a test alert)
  • This does not work on my end. Even the test does not work (when I press Volume, a wheel spin and stay there, no sound)

  • I wish I could disable it on my Fenix 7 Pro - although all settings set to off, my phone is still talking...
