Why isn't the Fenix 7 receiving new features?

To whom it may concern, at Garmin, I'm NOT HAPPY that the Fenix 7 series has gone into maintenance mode so quickly. I've been a Garmin user for decades, starting with FR305, followed by every FR iteration since, along with a Fenix 3, multiple 6S Pros, several Edges, etc.  I even have 2 Index S2s, countless HRMs

I paid too much for my Fenix 7 Solar for it to become a dead-end device this quickly. Besides bug fixes, it has half-baked features (think swim, HRM auto-connect, etc.) that must be finished appropriately.

I have the FR955 Solar, which will keep me going since it is still getting new features. But it was released just a few months after the Fenix 7 in 2022, so I figure it will be dead-ended soon as well.

Thus, I'm dead-ending my support of Garmin devices.

  • In my country Epix 2 Pro Sapphire 51mm is always sold by Garmin at 1050€

  • Corporate greed is the reason for garmins lack of care for the paying consumer.  The F7xpro once is obsolete and dead will be my last garmin product, which looks like is not in the far future.

  • Best strategy to get people's $. New features or paid subscription models.

  • Because Garmin as a company makes money from selling products - not from an ongoing subscription fees (except for products like inReach). There are different versions of the software for different devices - it costs money to incorporate changes into those versions and more money to test them - it doesn't make a lot of business sense to devote development resources towards old devices - it makes more sense to devote them to the latest devices that are generating more sales for the company.

  • What bug fixes? Every firmware update just introduce a new bugs. Fenix7 is pretty much the same hardware as any FR just in a different case. They run same os with just some features stripped for lower models. While FR firmware seems to be maintained by some real devs, F7 seems to be sabotaged by some poor AI. This watch is not delivering what was promised. If they want force us to upgrade they will be eventually successful as patience is not infinite, though the upgrade will be definitely not to just a new model, but to product from a different company.

  • Meditation is on my Epix

  • where do you find it ? which activity category ?

can you send a picture/screenshot of this Activity "list" on your watch ?

  • My mistake. It was under "Other", just like on my 955. However, it behaved differently though and when I deleted it, it didn't reappear under activities to add. The icon resembled Yoga but was a different color, unlike the one on my 955. So, I suppose it must have been something I once downloaded from the IQ store.

  • because it's only possible to Remove App (Activity) from Favorite (quick access) or List (when you press Start/stop button), but the App stay on the watch hidden.

This wasn't the Meditation App from Garmin, otherwise it will always be accessible under the  "Add+" list.

  • I'm increasingly disappointed with Garmin's apparent indifference to its customers regarding the 7th series. Reports of subpar watch quality, buggy firmware, broken features, inadequately trained support, and missing functionalities - especially when even lower-end models offer more - seem to be ignored entirely.

If Garmin fails to make significant improvements during this device's lifespan (which, considering its build issues, might already be limited), I'll seriously explore alternatives, regardless of their origin. At this point, nearly anything would be an improvement.
