GARMIN Challenge

Ok, I have now chosse 2 challenges on my Garmin connect, but I can't seem to find anything to start the challenge, the last one 3miles walk between 6-8 of December, on the 8th I walked 5.4km wich is more than 3miles but it didn't register on my challenge, I'm getting very fustrated as I can't seem to male this funcion work, please help thanks

Usually the challenges are starting automatically (on their appointed start date) by saving a certain activity (walking challenge will require to have saved a walking activity, running challenges - running activity, you get the idea), the accumulated activities and their distance, are counting towards these challenges and as soon as you fulfill the challenge requirements, you will be awarded with a badge.

Actually, challenges only start automatically if you have joined them already. And you have to do it on the Challenges screen of the app, or on the Challenges page of Garmin Connect Web. When a newly synced activity is not recognized by a challenge that you already joined, then you can try leaving and re-joining the challenge, and then do a minor edit to the concerned activity (re-saving it forces the system to process it again).

BTW, hiking does not count towards walking challenges but you can change the type of the activity afterwards

Biggest reason probably is that hiking is considered done with backpack (or similar) and in a different/much harder terrain than everyday walking so it does harder effect to body etc. It's a bit funny but usually it's best to use exactly the activity (in this case: walking) that is mentioned in challenge. If my memory serves right there has been also hiking challenges so that also makes a difference.
