Fe7 FW 18.14 swimming

Today i made update FW 18.14 on my Garmin Fenix 7 solar titanium.

Every day i swimm.

Today after upg 18.14 and reboot fe7 i swim but distance is shorter. It is 1/2 (exactly half) normal distance. Why?

I swimm the same tempo (aprox 2:30 min /100m) the same time (25 minutes) but i exactly have half distance in meters. What is wrong ?

Activity -swimming in open watter (no GPS).

usually 1 swimm pace with my hands is about 1 m and today after new FW it is 0,5 m ???

Do you have the some problem too?

Why no GPS? The watch uses a combination of GPS and accelerometers to determine swim data in the open water. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility…

If you're swimming in a pool with lanes use the Pool Swim activity and set the pool distance. The watch will then calculate distance etc based on the number of lengths detected. A length is detected when…

I had the same problem with the Fenix 6, I used to swim breaststroke in open water with the OWS activity and GPS off, the distance was quite accurate (checked on a marked 500 meter rowing course).

Yes, but that's not how the distance is measured when there is no GPS signal. When the signal is not continuous, the accelerometer counts your strokes, and the calibrated distance per stroke is used. As I wrote, either swim crawl, or put the watch under the swimcap, or on a float. After a few swims in this way, with good continuous GPS signal, the stroke distance used for the measuring might be better established, and it then may work better even when the signal is worse.

Yes I take your point thank you, I think it does need a period of recalibration, It's just a bit frustrating that it seems to have lost this through the update, I'm sure it will come good again, at least when I get back in the pool and it's measured lengths. For now I'm on holiday so it doesn't really matter too much, no float or swim cap unfortunately so I'll just correct it manually.
