Hello olives_19
Garmin does not recommend using any screen protectors on the watches. This is the reason these are not made available for purchase from Garmin directly. A screen protector will use adhesive…
Its not common at all. Ive had several Sapphire watches and they're still pristine.
I would not say it is uncommon for the Fenix Saphire glas screen to get scratches. A lot of reports are popping up at leas since the fenix 6 era. I have a scratch on my saphire glas (or coating, whoknows…
I really don’t get how easily they get scratched and garmin still not recommend screen protectors (except for Japan)
I just learned today (see this thread: forums.garmin.com/.../reducing-sapphire-screen-reflections ) that it may even void your warranty if you use a screen protector.
And I also learned that there is a coating on the sapphire. Sapphire will not scratch, but coating may get scratched. It was not unheard of on Fenix 6 Sapphire, to have scratched coating.
Is really unbelievable how Garmin doesn't recommend screen protectors, have a sapphire glass and put a coating on it so it can get scratched.
It's NOT easy to scratch the sapphire or the coating. It can happen yes but it's certainly not common. There's reports but there's thousands of watches there. Using an outdoor watch outdoors will risk a mark dependent on what activity you do and while you can mitigate against it you'll never reduce the risk entirely.
Just use your watch and enjoy it.
