Spoken turn by turn instructions coming from phone during an activity

I had a similar issue. I believe they are just supposed to come through headphones but the latest software sends them through your phone.

I solved it by turning off all audio prompts in the settings menu.

That makes sense. I have changed nothing on my phone or watch settings for months.

I did get a few firmware updates on my Fenix so I guess that could have changed something.

Does disabling audio prompts also disable the watches notification beeps for turns? If I don't get a beep on my watch I am likely to miss turns on a hike

Don’t think so. I think the audio prompt is the ‘voice’ only. I’ve never used the audio prompts, I’m sure they were all off but when I looked at the settings they were enabled for ‘workouts’ after updating to 17.xx. I’m guessing you might have the same issue so I’d start there

Just looked at the instructions. They do come through your phone if you don’t have headphones connected. Disabling them worked for me.

Are you talking about Settings (accessed by holding middle left button from a watchface) > Audio Prompts > Workout Alerts 

If so, mine is already set to off

Same issue. I don't know which fw caused that but since 17.20 I noticed. Now I'm on fw17.23 and it's the same audio prompts coming through phone even everything is turned off. My solution is for the problem is turn off Bluetooth or put the phone on airplane mode. It's pretty annoying but hey ho it's Garmin just live with the bugs. Another one doesn't matter to the many bugs in this fw17.23. Garmin-Laurie

Thanks for your suggestions, but they are all off already..... I guess it's been since the 17.2x updates as that matches when it started..... any thoughts or suggestions Garmin-Laurie ?

Makes sense now. After turning off all audio prompts I also downgraded back to 16.22 because of all the bugs. So it’s the downgrade that solved it for me. I originally thought it was a bug because it came out of nowhere.

That makes sense then, mines definitely got all audio switched off but is all screaming out directions through my phone. Hopefully Garmin can fix it as I kept thinking someone was right behind me during my hike.... it freaked me out a few times!

In the meantime I have just tried adding the Garmin Connect app to the "individual app sounds" in Samsungs Sound Assistant app and turned the volume right down.... hopefully that'll stop the voices!!
