Firmware 16.22, for me, the best so far.

I have had my Fenix 7X pro Sapphire since September 2023, I know many will turn up their noses, but for me this firmware is really fantastic. Starting from the battery consumption, I noticed immediately after updating the firmware and charging my Fenix, that the battery remained at 100% for the first day, ok I hadn't done any activity, but with the other firmware the battery would dropped by at least 2%. My wrist heart rate sensor always remains active, even with the energy saving mode which is activated from 10.00pm to 7.00am. On Saturday I did an ultramarathon lasting more than 9 hours, I started with 72% charge, and I arrived at the end, if I'm not mistaken with 54%, with a loaded track and with the "climb pro" function which helped me in the go up. So I'm really happy with the consumption of my device. Furthermore, the question of the wrist heart rate sensor which remains active even when I pair my HRM Pro band is better in my opinion. This is because before I noticed that as soon as I finished my run and uncoupled the band, my wrist sensor dropped my heart rate drastically, and this (obviously) wasn't right, I also went from 130bpm with the band to 85bpm with the wrist sensor. However, now as soon as I uncouple the band, I notice that the wrist sensor remains at the values that my pro plus band had previously, as it should be. I only use official Garmin watch faces and have not noticed any lag or weird things on my watch face.

  • Well, this update made useless connection to Garmin Basecamp - Basecamp stopped recognized Fenix watches. So it's hard to be happy....

  • Absolutely agree! No any issues with 16.22, working perfectly Thumbsup

  • The forum is full of photos and videos with problems with FW 16.22

Nobody here is denying the absence of problems. They exist. Have always existed. Garmin have always worked hard to fix what they can when they can, despite what some constantly suggest. However, the crux of the OP's post is to point out that while some people do have problems others do not.

I am sure it is extremely frustrating if you are one of those having problems. I hope they get resolved for you and others quickly. However, accept with some grace at least, that there are others using the watch for all sorts of different activities who are not having problems.

  • Well said philipshambrook. Saying that I am having no issues at all with 16.22 is not saying no one else is having problems - but that goes both ways.  I do maybe 4-5 activities a week including TM, runs, trail runs (with navigation), CIQ GPS based orienteering events etc and have had 0 issues with 16.22 (along with the lead up beta versions. Can't really comment on battery life as I don't generally worry about it or track it closely (fully charged it shows 18 days and I just occasionally plug it in to keep it between 7-18 (really handy having an extra cable in the car).  The issues that a few are having must be the hardest to figure out - it we all had rebooting watches then a solution would likely be much more obvious. I understand the frustration.

  • Your analysis is correct, but the central point of the matter is that this thread by is only provocative, it was not necessary to praise a firmware that has collected numerous complaints because it should be normal for a firmware to work correctly.

An user of this thread pointed out that it isn't possible to use basecamp with 16.22, you don't use basecamp and therefore your software considers it perfect but it is not. Why do you write a thread where you give useless praise while many others have reported problems with features that you have never used.

This is the reason for my first answer about users using the watch only to check the time.

  • Your analysis is correct, but the central point of the matter is that this thread by is only provocative

Bro, if you feel that a couple of users commenting about their own personal experience is provocative or somehow negating your own experience, then there's possibly a whole other set of issues that need to be tackled outside of watches, firmware and forums.

Im sad for you that you're having issues. We're not. Those two experiences can exist side by side without contention because we're talking subjectively and not about hard scientific fact.
