I don't really care for the release date. What I mostly care of is to have MIP display if possible better than the one 7 series currently has. If they won't keep the MIP display with these nice stock watch…
The only thing a silicone plug helps with is speeding up the corrosion process which would have never started otherwise. Think of it as sand, dust and moisture trap :) never, under any circumstances use…
It may be possible to get some clues from Garmin patents, which are searchable on the US patent office website. Garmin frequently patents new watch designs and improvements in smartwatch technology. I…
Shouldn't it be multiple filings for a Fenix release? (For the different sizes)

Well that explains the BLE and NFC SAR. No new watches for us yet.
I agree with you. People buying fenix are interestet in Sport Features and don‘t want to have a smartwatch. That‘s the reason why i don‘t want to buy the Epix with oled Display it‘s Like wearing a smartwatch. But wearing a sportswatch is Part of a personal Lifestyle
The problem is that many smartwatches have caught up regarding sport. And they offer all the smartwatch functionality. So Garmin and other sportwatch manufacturers HAVE to offer very soon more smartwatch functions. Otherwise they will lose a lot of costumers.
i estimate around oct.-nov. 2024,the issue for me is not the amoled display, they should trim the bezel and put a bigger screen ,samsung's new ultra watch has a 1.47 '' screen ,the display is fine even the fenix 6x has a fine and readable screen .

I'm a Fenix owner, run ultras, often go out for week long hikes and I really want it to also be a smart watch. My friends who do the same thing and own an Apple Watch Ultra love their watch, but want it to be more like a Garmin in terms of battery life and navigation. Both companies seem to be an active battle for that middle ground.
FWIW, the Fenix 8 will be announced next month and be available before Apple potentially announce the Ultra 3
I used to have an Apple Watch, and I just couldn't for the life of me figure out what these "smart features" were that a Garmin couldn't match. As far as I can tell, 99% of Apple Watch users just need something to track activities, give them message notifications, and tell them the weather. For all of the processing power jammed into those little things, there are hardly any Apple Watch apps to take advantage of it.
The main difference seems to be that you can respond to text messages on an apple watch, but you can do that with a Garmin too if you have an Android. It's not a watch difference; it's Apple just intentionally refusing to play nice with third party hardware.
