When Fenix 8 is being released?
I don't really care for the release date. What I mostly care of is to have MIP display if possible better than the one 7 series currently has. If they won't keep the MIP display with these nice stock watch…
The only thing a silicone plug helps with is speeding up the corrosion process which would have never started otherwise. Think of it as sand, dust and moisture trap :) never, under any circumstances use…
It may be possible to get some clues from Garmin patents, which are searchable on the US patent office website. Garmin frequently patents new watch designs and improvements in smartwatch technology. I…
I’m using touch only when using map on my watch, in any other situations I’m operating by buttons.
Likewise, but I feel it's been worth the upgrade just for those few moments whilst hiking/running where Im able to quickly scroll around the map using touch. Its now a joy to quickly looking around rather than it feeling like you're playing the worst game of Tetris ever created.
Touch screen is a game changer for navigating trails, you can't really appreciate this until you switch from older Fenix watch (without touchscreen) to Fenix 7 series watch.
It should then appear when it can finally be charged inductively or at least there will be a usb-c socket instead of the stupid garmin plug
USB-C connectors aren't water proof also chew up internal space.
Inductive coils are inefficient and also chew up internal space cutting down on battery life.
You're only charging once every 1-3 weeks anyway.
aren't water proof
They are on phones (although not to a rating a Fenix watch has).
And some Garmin watches already have usb c.
You are telling silly stories. My samsung galaxy s22 has usb-c port and IP68. My Kindle Paperwhite 5 has a usb-c port has IPX8. Just because something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it isn't useful for others.
Thanks for the explanation, very interesting.
I don’t know how many of you had the chance of owning or seeing a Pebble smartwatch screen, specially the color MIP of the Pebble Time.
Colors were stunning under the sun, and everything was crisp and clear despite the low resolution.
I think there’s margin for improvement on MIP displays, specially compared to the Pebbles, now extinct.
I switched from a Fenix 7 SS to and AW Ultra 2 and I miss the display and the button controls. Not mentioning other aspects as the tracking and sport capabilities.
Really looking forward to the Fenix 8!

Fenix 7 is resistant to 100m.
IPX8 and IP68 is rated to 1.5m for 30 mins.
Happy to clarify
Just because something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it isn't useful for others.
Youre right. 1.5m wouldn't work for me or anyone else that swims/surfs with their watch.
USB-C would occupy a huge amount of space internally and would likely get gummed up with all kinds of junk that people would struggle to clean. If anything, we'll probably see the magnetic coupling from the Marq series which occupies even less internal space than the regular Garmin connector.
And this is your problem? I sold my Fenix 6X Pro precisely because of the non-contacting charging contact - making a socket with 4 small pins that after 3 years of use are covered with prune is the problem, not what how much space it will take up. One and a half meters under water is diving, not swimming. But this is such a detail.
