When Fenix 8 is being released?
I don't really care for the release date. What I mostly care of is to have MIP display if possible better than the one 7 series currently has. If they won't keep the MIP display with these nice stock watch…
The only thing a silicone plug helps with is speeding up the corrosion process which would have never started otherwise. Think of it as sand, dust and moisture trap :) never, under any circumstances use…
It may be possible to get some clues from Garmin patents, which are searchable on the US patent office website. Garmin frequently patents new watch designs and improvements in smartwatch technology. I…
Interesting, thanks for the heads up, my screen panel knowledge ends at PC monitor panel types, haven't actually met a MIP in "the wild" until i got F7X
MIP (Memory In Pixel) is just LCD with built-in memory so the entire display doesn't need to be constantly refreshed. MIP allows to change one pixel at a time. But other than that MIP is just LCD that works with either reflected light or backlight - similar to those LCD displays in old fashioned digital watches.
The MIP display from the 7 was a big step backwards from the 6. I hope the 8 will be an improvement. Hopefull it's not another dim, low pixelated 64 colors display. It's hard to go back to MIP displays after being used to the amoled ones, so there really should be improvements to the MIP displays.
Fenix 7 Pro MIP display is an actual upgrade you're looking for and there's not much headroom left anymore.

Not that much less visible it you're talking about the base model without solar. Plus, we got touch which in my opinion is an excellent tradeoff.
big step backwards
It's the same display.
It's the same display.
Yes, the display is likely the same, but with added touch and solar charging layers. Personally, I would gladly trade no touch or solar to a better display clarity. The touch is mostly useless anyway. It is so pervasive that I have to keep it disabled to avoid my watch making some dangerous user inputs on its own.
Probably another thing where quality varies. I was not able to notice a difference between my F6 non-solar saphire and F7 touch solar saphire. And I do enjoy the touch functions more that I thought I would (but I have it disabled during activities, because there is no "safe touch" mode).
For me, touchscreen was the reason I sold my fenix 5 and bought the 7. I believe most pleople think the same way I do
Believe me a lot of people don’t.
I’m using touch only when using map on my watch, in any other situations I’m operating by buttons.
I also use touch all the time and love it! even on activities. I wouldn't buy a watch without touch screen.
