Ecg for Europe

Dear all good morning!

Any news regarding ECG approval in Europe?

  • Secondly, not it has not been answered

What makes you think that the question has not been answered? Already 9 months ago. Read the posts by Garmin employees!
So again: There is a support article where you can check which countries are currently available. This article will be updated as new countries are added.

    Any update?!?

The answer: Check the support article regularly.

  • Always amazes me that folk, without any professional or business experience, will invent the idea that commercial outfits would drip feed regulatory progress publicly. Think about it for a second, from the company's commercial livelihood pov, and if that's not enough, think about it for 2, then keep going exponentially.

Yes, I'm amazed about that too !

  • Garmin cannot influence the approval proceedings (hopefully and thankfully) but they can be upfront with customers. So when someone from a country other than the three with Garmin ECG approval buy a Garmin product that lists ECG as one of its features, it should be clearly visible that this function will not work in the buyer’s country. It’s that easy, and evidently, this hasn’t been done yet. THAT is what I hold against Garmin, and that is what I meant in my initial post saying they are falsely advertising their products. A buyer doesn’t care whether an item they want to purchase for a specific desired function, can perform this function in principle, they care whether it will perform this function for THEM. Garmin’s ECG doesn’t, and Garmin should tell people before they check out.

  • France. At least that’s where I lived when I bought the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire Solar.

    They do!

don't know which country you are from. So I can't say anything about the Garmin website in your country.

    BUT :
I have just compared the Garmin website of two countries.

Germany (where ECG is not yet available) an USA

    Result :

The German website does NOT advertise the ECG measurement, nor is it listed in the technical data.

In contrast, the US site advertises with ECG. It is available there!
In addition, the advertisement on the US site contains a footnote that clearly explains that ECG is only available in certain regions.

Conclusion : In the pages (which I have compared so far) the following can be noted:

On the Garmin website of the countries where ECG is currently not available, it is neither advertised nor can it be found in the technical data.

On the Garmin websites where ECG is available, it is advertised and a footnote indicates that it is only available in some regions.

they are falsely advertising their products.

WHAT is misleading about this, or false advertising?

2The ECG app is only available on select Garmin smartwatches with the latest version of the Garmin Connect smartphone app and watch software. The ECG app is not available in all regions; see Garmin.com/ECG for availability. The ECG app is not intended for use by people under 22 years old. With the ECG app, a compatible Garmin smartwatch is capable of generating an ECG similar to a single-lead electrocardiogram.

  • What country are you from?
    France.

Here is the French Garmin website. Unfortunately I don't speak French. If there is anything about ECG there, it would be nice if you could mark it. Thank you!

  • Is the ECG block on European specific models, or Garmin accounts that are based in Europe? Not location based at the time but the overall account. I live in Europe but my account and watches are from Texas where I moved from.

  • it's not lock by device "EU specific model".

if you have it activated, earlier from Texas location, then it should works. otherwise you will find some solution here/there to activate it in a country/region where it's not supported for the moment
