Garmin fenix 7 pro backlight 15.74

Hello. Sorry for my english. In update 15.74 garmin fenix 7 pro removed the ability to turn on the screen backlight for an unlimited amount of time. Now the backlight is on for a maximum of 5 minutes. This is very inconvenient when riding a bicycle when the watch is on the handlebars in a special mount. It is even dangerous to constantly press the backlight button during training in the dark. I've used fenix 6 pro for many seasons with this handy feature. I wrote to support and they told me that Garmin engineers did this specifically to save battery power. This is some kind of nonsense. Everyone could adjust this setting to their own needs. It's a strange reason why Garmin engineers had to abandon this setting. It's like Garmin is forcing you to buy their cycling computer.

I too wrote to support and got the same response. I actually thought it was a problem with the software initially. It's very strange they would do this.

They seem to be focused on Epix when developing software and do not pay adequate attention to MIPs display of Fenix 7.

They did the same thing with backlight on maps few months ago - some new software introduced backlight on maps as mandatory even though users disabled light in settings, which for Fenix 7 did not make any sense. Users insisted that it should be corrected, and it was. But first response from Garmin was that it was designed to do that. This seems to be the same scenario, just different option.

So, I suggest that you insist that Garmin brings back this useful option.

They removed the Autopause from the cross country skiing activity in the VA4 and Venu series while it was there previously in VA HR and VA3. Oh you wanted that? Buy a more expensive watch then.

This is probably true. Because the screen backlight on the Garmin fenix 6 pro is much better thought out. For example, when some process is in progress (for example, SpO2 measurement) on the Garmin fenix 6 pro, the backlight does not go off until this process is completed or until you press the light button. This is regardless of the general backlight setting. And it's very convenient. Yes, now Garmin is trying to please those who like amoled. They don't want to waste effort on improving the MIP screen backlight. Having some problem with the continuous backlight of the screen? It's better to remove this item from the menu. It's easier.

If only AMOLED watches wouldn't be plagued with burn-in and being useless when mounted on a bike handlebar or in bright outside activities like cross country skiing, I might have went with an Epix Pro instead of Fenix 7 Pro...

This makes the Fenix useless as a bike computer. How are you going to use the map and get ride data if the display keeps turning off? I had switched form the Epix to Fenix because I thought the screen could take the always on (Which is false advertisement, if it is not always on).

Why sell watch mount garmin adapter if the watch can't be used. This is really bad and I am frustrated enough trying to use the watch as a bike computer that I will probably abandon Garmin all together.

the backlight no time out has been put back in the last beta 16.13 work as it should, the display light stay on :-)
