Is it true that there are two different hardware versions of the Tactix 7 AMOLED Edition? I saw boxes with OLED and AMOLED labeling. The OLED version might have a display with less quality, although advertised by Garmin as AMOLED. Please clarify!

lol 9 months of back and forth nonsense only to realize you should have listened to the posters telling you the same thing all along
What is incorrect? The Tactix 7 AMOLED only comes as AMOLED as noted
they are only amoled
There is no OLED version. The only other options are MIP screens.
While it's true that AMOLED is a specific kind of OLED display, all modern OLED displays are AMOLED, so the two terms are basically interchangeable these days.
…No they are only amoled
That is incorrect the amoled has a brighter and more brilliant colors and it's more energy efficient the OLED uses more organic materials which makes it a little dollar colors and less energy efficient that is the only difference .

That is incorrect I have the AMOLED version My friend has the OLED version THEY ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL IT'S JUST A LIGHT UP THE SCREEN IN DIFFERENT WAYS THE AMOLED IS BRIGHTER AND MORE EFFICIENT

There are two main families of OLED: those based on small molecules and those employing polymers. Adding mobile ions to an OLED creates a light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) which has a slightly different mode of operation. An OLED display can be driven with a passive-matrix (PMOLED) or active-matrix (AMOLED) control scheme. In the PMOLED scheme, each row and line in the display is controlled sequentially, one by one,[6] whereas AMOLED control uses a thin-film transistor (TFT) backplane to directly access and switch each individual pixel on or off, allowing for higher resolution and larger display sizes.
Notice that nobody ever talks about PMOLED displays? That's because nobody uses them anymore.
Anyway, Garmin doesn't have separate listings for "AMOLED" and "OLED" on its website. If you see boxes with different labelling, I'd be curious if the part numbers are the same.

A little confusing when the box says, OLED.
.

Last September, I purchased one of the first tactix 7 AMOLED watches available in the U.S.
The box has "OLED" on it:
The Part number is PART NUMBER 010-02931-00 (same as is currently on the web site for the tactix 7 - AMOLED Edition):
For the first day or two I had the watch, it was identified on the Garmin Connect web site as "tactix 7 OLED," but this changed quickly to "tactix 7 AMOLED."
As has been said above, there is and only ever was a single hardware version of the tactix 7 AMOLED.
There may have been some confusion caused at first with the two nomenclature versions on the Garmin web site, and the fact that the box states only "OLED," but that has long since been resolved.
HTH
Definitely helps, and I appreciate your quick reply! I went from the Fenix 2, to Fenix 5x, and now about to purchase the Tactix 7 Amoled. Appreciate it.

You're welcome - glad to help.
FYI, here's a picture of the top of the box, just in case anyone thought I was trying to hide anything with the tightly cropped pics above:
Hope you enjoy your new watch as much as I do.
Only took about two minutes to get over buyers remorse. It is a huge upgrade from the fenix 5X. My box is slightly different than yours. I did find it odd that my box was not taped shut. Rally pedals didn’t have tape either. That bend in the box was from me.
Perhaps I can ask you a question rather than continuing to look as I can’t seem to find an answer.
I wear my watch 24/7 even when tracking activities with other devices. For road biking I use the Edge 830 with the HRM Run.
Just wondering how garmin handles HR data when two devices are tracking it.
