New records for everyone!

Every now and again after completing a run, my Fenix congratulates me on new 1km, 1 mile, 5km records  - even though they're definitely not. As far as I know these records are stored per device as I can't find them on Connect as I can for 10k, half-marathon and marathon. It seems to me like the shorter distance records get deleted every now again and I couldn't find any pattern to when this happens (I thought it might be after firmware updates or soft-resets).

Has anyone else been experiencing this? I found a few old posts about similar problems so it seems this used to be somewhat of an issue in the past that might have returned?

  • Yes, I have this quite often on my Tactix 7. It doesn't matter how slow or fast I run, I seem to keep setting new records Rolling eyes

  • I can't find them on Connect

I can see all running records in Garmin Connect. This includes 1 km, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, HM, Marathon, and longest run.

As far as I know these records are stored per device

Yes, they are, but they get synced from Garmin Connect to a device.

One important thing to note: A record has to be confirmed in garmin connect in order to become official. If you don't do it, then it's possible, that a previous record (or an empty record) is synced back to your watch.

  • Unixcrab has already mentioned that the records list includes 1 km, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, HM (Half Marathon), Marathon, and longest run. The only additional information I would like to provide is that some of these records need to be enabled for you to view them.

Go to GC web > Personal Records, click in Customize list and check mark all distances.

  • Ahh thanks, hadn't noticed those greyed out ones in the Customize list and they didn't match my watch at all. Did a manual "Send to Device" and they updated. Let's hope that fixes it...

  • Thanks, that's new to me. I accepted my 5km record but my km/mile records were impossible so I didn't accept them and have none now. I guess the bug happens when there is no record in GC. I'd expect the watch to alert after *every* run (since none was ever accepted) or only if a previous "suggested" best was broken.
