Performe a soft reset. Press and hold the light button until the device shut down. After that press the light button to enable the device. The soft reset does not kill any data/settings. Perhaps it help…
I had the same issue, I did the soft reset that some people mentioned in this thread and it worked. Just hold the flashlight button and then power off, then use the same button to turn on after a moment…
Same thing happened to me. Had an update yesterday (June 5) and now the flashlight doesn’t work. This is my second 7x Sapphire Solar in 10 months and I’m starting to get to my wits end. My last one just…
The soft reset worked for me
I have the same issue since the last update few days ago!
Definitely a problem on Garmin side!
Many thanks.
Had the same problem since the software update. The soft reset solved it!
Thanks for the info.
I have noticed a couple of days ago that the flashlight on my 7S Pro Sapphire Solar doesn't work anymore; I don't use it very often, so I don't know how long it has been broken.
Whenever I try to power on the flashlight, I only get the brightness levels on the left side of the screen; after some time it says "Flashlight brightness has been reduced to cool down", even though it never powered on the flashlight.
FW was 16.22, updated to the 17.20 beta, tried all the soft/hard resets... nothing worked.
This is very common with updates. A power cycle should fix it.
None of the solutions in this thread works for me, including a regular power cycle.
Edit after 1 day: this morning the flashlight started working ,after one night of sitting on my desk. The watch was in battery saving mode; after I switched to normal mode, the light stopped working again. No "brightness has been reduced" message this time, but again, I wasn't able to get it back working no matter what I did.
I have uninstalled the watch face I was using (Pip-boy-ish), with no immediate change; the flashlight started working again at a later time in the day, this time switching the battery saver on and off didn't break the flashlight function. Not sure if I should blame the watch face, or my usage pattern (I prefer the battery saver mode, and only use the full capabilities when I record an activity), but the flashlight seems to work, so I suppose I can call it "fixed".
Edit after 11 months: happened again at some point, was able to get it working again via the strobe function.
noticed the flashlight on my fenix 7 is not working. Iam not always using the function but when i do need it, found out it was not working. The "flashlight brightness has beed reduced to cooldown" keeps popping up. Sw version: 18.16
Hi the flash light has stopped on my fenix 7 I've updated the software and shut down but still not working, it was fine yesterday I don't wear this watch to work as I have an instinct 2 that I wear for work I changed it over when I got home and wanted to use the flash light it's showing the 4 light and red settings on the watch face and battery usage indicator showing it's on.
Thank you for that tip, it worked perfectly
