No idea what's going on. However, try a hard reset by pressing and holding top until it shuts down then restart. Make sure you sync with Garmin Connect first so as not to lose any 24/7 data. If that doesn't sort it contact Garmin Support. They might suggest a reset to factory defaults before doing anything further.
Same thing happened to me. Had an update yesterday (June 5) and now the flashlight doesn’t work. This is my second 7x Sapphire Solar in 10 months and I’m starting to get to my wits end. My last one just went “crazy”, stopped keeping correct time, buttons stopped responding and it kept randomly rebooting. Very frustrated.
Performe a soft reset. Press and hold the light button until the device shut down. After that press the light button to enable the device. The soft reset does not kill any data/settings. Perhaps it help to get your flashlight back to life. Give it a try.
I had the same issue, I did the soft reset that some people mentioned in this thread and it worked. Just hold the flashlight button and then power off, then use the same button to turn on after a moment. Now my flashlight works fine.
