What does Fenix 8 / Tactix 8 Need To Have To Make You Upgrade?

all the 965 talk got me thinking about the future of fenix/tactix and what it would take to get me to upgrade. garmin has never disappointed me before and i don't expect them to in the future, but what to expect? for me it would be a pretty short list. i just need a new sensor. if there's not a new optical sensor with improved accuracy, i see no reason to upgrade as that is easily the most important aspect of the watch. ecg would be nice, i'd prefer to NOT have amoled (although battery with mips is nowhere near what garmin promises) and i don't really need wireless charging either (and it's WILDLY inefficient). i'd love to see better solar charging (better efficiency from the panels) or maybe something radical like flexible panels on the watch band. for tactix i'd like to see something over the top like emp-resistance. in the end though it would come down to elevate 5...

Sensor technology is continuously advancing, and improved accuracy in optical heart rate sensors could be a desirable upgrade for many users who rely on accurate fitness tracking ultra k9 pro ingredients.

Most of you are focusing on hardware and I agree with most of your suggestions. But for me the Aquiles heel of the Fenix 7 is the software. So, here are my suggestions:

1- Make something useful with the strength training profile. It is useless in its current implementation (it doesn't give you any insight or advance data into your training).

2- Improve the sleep tracking algorithm to catch up with the Apple watch.

3- Better integration of the different data that our watches already collect (E.g.: my watch tells me my respiration rate but I don't know what to do with it nor if it is used for something).

4- Improve HR sensor from the wrist, which likely would involve improve the algorithm to catch up with Apple in your results.

5- Fix the bugs and keep your watches feature updated for more years. Apple does it for 5 years and Coros for 4-5. It is not aceptable to spend 900e on a Fenix and stop receiving the new features (that the watch is compatible with) in about 24 months from release date.

  • How or where does the Pro version of the Fenix 7 position itself within all the wishes ?

The Pro has improved the HR sensor. We we'll see if it caches up Apple. The rest (software) is all the same. And it will be for a looooong time (i've been complaining about the strength training profile yor years). At the end other company will develop something more useful and I will move with them

  • Only Thing I need is cellular with Same battery life as my 7Pro.

  • Native support for Inline Skating. Laughing

  • I just want the things I was hoping Fenix 7 would bring, but didn't.

    1. More storage space (PLEASE!), give us 64GB or more!
    2. More color depth (10-bit / 512 colors would be a massive improvement)
    3. Bump up the display sizes by 0.1 inches each (1.3", 1.4", 1.5")
    4. Increase screen resolutions accordingly (260x260, 280x280, 300x300)

If I'm being honest, I'd probably fork over the money to upgrade if it even gets just 1 of those things

I ended up picking up the new 51mm epix pro, because it satisfies #2 and #4 on my wish list above. If Fenix 8 ends up satisfying all four, then I may switch back to Fenix.

  • Touch screen is essential to make interacting with maps much more practical.

  • A smart alarm that wakes you up in the best stage of sleep (light sleep).

    1. LTE or eSIM - I I don't want run with my phone.
    2. Improved display - color, resolution, size in same body
    3. 8 data fields on 47mm models

I'll buy Epix 2 Pro 51mm immediately, but I have small 16cm wrist so my F7 is maximum size for me and with Epix 2 Pro 47mm I'll be a bit afraid of battery life. I like that I can have map visible while hiking all the day on F7. FR955 fits me perfect, but the buttons was like cheap plastic toy and I like more the better touch control/functions on F7. If that was same, I'll buy FR955 and sell F7.
