Battery Drain Issues with Fenix 7 Series on v9.33 Software

  1. Hi.

Anyone else seeing the battery drain much faster? I am dropping about 8% per day in smartwatch mode with no GPS usage at all, minimal backlight, no pulse ox, no flashlight usage and no third party apps installed. I did do a hard restart right after the upgrade to v9.33.

Where is the "Up to 28 days typical use" !! :(

Any explainment for this?

Fenix 7X Solar Sapphire v9.33.

  • Before update to v.9.33 I didn't have any issues. When I charged with 100% of battery, was 16days. Now with the 9.33 is less than 1week.

I have Strava segments, but can't understand the problem. I don't use them. I use only on my Edge 1030.

What I discovered is: if I'm leaving opened the app garmin connect on my phone there's a fast battery drain on my Fenix7. Btw even if I quit the app all day long the battery still during 1week and not 16days as the previous version of software. I guess because the app running to update segment of strava all time.

I think is not accetable this. If in previous update was working, should do it even now. Please fix this prblem

  • If you are in the Beta program the 9.36 beta is out, I have it right now on my Fenix 7 SS...let's see.

Anyhow I didn't have any evident battery drain (except the first two days, mystery).

Where do you find the release notes for beta release (and other releases as well.... alpha, RC, official)?

  • If you subscribe to the beta program (from garmin connect go to your profile and you can enable it) you'll receive via email the notification of betas once available and the relevant changelog, it'll then get the updates via WiFi or connect.

I have a Tactix 7 pro and my battery suddenly started draining 4-6% a day a month ago. This started in firmware 8.37 all the way to 9.36 now. No third-party apps installed. Pulse ox is set to manual. Backlight is on 5% after sunset. No GPS activities logged. Touch is off all the time. Wifi is off. At 100% charge the battery estimate always says 32 days but I'll never get more than 25 days now. Definitely not getting close to what is specified.  Watch has been factory reset multiple times, rebooted multiple times but still same battery drain.

    I'm still having issues

  • Have you updated to 9.36? If so, add your information to one of the other threads discussing battery issues with 9.36. If you have not updated to 9.36 then you should do so.

  • battery estimate always says 32 days but I'll never get more than 25 days now.

Not even Garmin can predict exactly how much you'll get, only an estimate based on ideal conditions and minimal interaction. That's why the specs say up to. Once you start interacting with the watch then the estimated time will decrease. It is quite possible that you are experiencing typical battery usage and not a drain. Of course I could be wrong.

Note also that the latest version is 9.36. If you are on 9.33 then you should update to 9.36.

If you do feel your battery usage is excessive contact Garmin Support and provide them with details of how often you interact with the watch and what you do.

  • This has happened to me - garmin changed my 7s for a brand new one. However the battery is still only lasting 24hrs it’s mad on a watch I have had 10 days. As an ultra runner I can’t trust it at all. Currently waiting to go on  runwhilst my watch charges Rolling eyes
