Battery Drain Issues with Fenix 7 Series on v9.33 Software

  1. Hi.

Anyone else seeing the battery drain much faster? I am dropping about 8% per day in smartwatch mode with no GPS usage at all, minimal backlight, no pulse ox, no flashlight usage and no third party apps installed. I did do a hard restart right after the upgrade to v9.33.

Where is the "Up to 28 days typical use" !! :(

Any explainment for this?

Fenix 7X Solar Sapphire v9.33.

  • Contact Garmin support :)

  • Contact your local Garmin support. I used Facebook Messenger and they replied quickly. Maybe you can also use phone. Email seems to be the slowest way.

  • My 7s watch was updated on tuesday. after the update my battery is completely dead in 24 hours. I did all 3 items suggested by Chris here, 3 days passed, but there was no improvement. The watch, just like the phone, consumes its entire charge in 1 day. How can I go back to the previous version?

  • Hi,

I am experiencing this issue after the v9.33 update. My battery life was fantastic before the update "which installed by itself". Since that time, the watch only lasts around 6 hours, before it runs out of battery after a full charge.

@garmin you need to sort this out. This is a premium watch and this is very clearly the result of poor testing. Nick

  • First thing today I turned off automatic updates. It is very sad that I cannot trust the manufacturer of a device that I paid so much money for. Then I set the segments from GC app to garmin instead of strava. I turned wifi off in clock settings. I also turned off the phone connection. Doing so suddenly extended the remaining battery time. And now the battery meltdown seems to have stopped. It looks like it will hold up until a corrected version arrives.

  • I am having the same with version 8.37 and 9.33, I have had a ticket open with garmin support for weeks they have been taking logs off my device and still looking into the problem

  • Me too! 25% in 3 days when normally my Fenix 7 eats no more than 15... I tried to hard reset now..

  • I'll try to hard reset now but for no reason I software update should need a factory reset!!!

Also, good occasion dear garmin to add a backup and restore feature please!!

  • I'm draining over 3% per hour with normal use. unaccaptable that my watch now doesn't even make it two full days!

  • I think I have found the solution…

In the v9.33 release notes, one of the changes which was implemented was “SatIQ (Satellite auto mode). This struck me as being something which could cause problems, so I decided to change the setting.

On my Fenix7. To change this, I went to Settings/Satellites and changed the setting to Auto select. Ever since my battery life has gone back to normal.
