Battery Drain Issues with Fenix 7 Series on v9.33 Software

  1. Hi.

Anyone else seeing the battery drain much faster? I am dropping about 8% per day in smartwatch mode with no GPS usage at all, minimal backlight, no pulse ox, no flashlight usage and no third party apps installed. I did do a hard restart right after the upgrade to v9.33.

Where is the "Up to 28 days typical use" !! :(

Any explainment for this?

    How so? The update's been out only a few hours, never mind days. It's not realistic to extrapolate a short period of time into a much longer one, especially immediately after the update has been applied. The update itself will be consuming more than the normal usage and can be expected to reduce the battery level at a far higher rate than normal. Far better to apply the update, then fully charge the watch, then begin looking at the battery consumption over a 24h period of normal usage.

    Good one, LOL.

    Additionally, I would recommend to charge the watch before installing update. Just in case. Could be really bad if power runs out in the middle of the firmware update.

    The system 9.33 was released 5 days ago. look here.
    This problem happened to me in all previous versions. I expected something to change when the current system was released, but I am still facing the same issue.

    Did you power your watch off and on again by holding the light button (upper left) until it turns off?

    Reboot your watch - turn it off and back on again. You should always be doing that after every time the software gets updated. As already mentioned in the 9.33 discussion post here on this forum (where I said something along the lines of, "please everyone, reboot your watches before starting a new thread here about excessive battery drain")

    Ugh, so tempted to finally update the firstware, but always reading about the power drain issues makes me wonder whether it's actually worth it.

    It is, you will get training readiness, HRV, etc.

    Yeah, I really want this. But I only have the S, which only lasts for 11 days without too much GPS use anyway. Thus battery drain would mean a big problem for me. Is there a way to restore older firmware? I still have 7.24

    I never downgraded but I think it is possible. However, it will do factory reset. Hopefully someone else who has done it, will answer.

    Tempting. I don't seem to have it yet though. Just fired up Garmin Express, and there are only map updates for me, not firmware updates. Hmm... I want to see which firmware I install before doing so. But... nothing. Still using 7.24.
