PacePro - Watch says Ahead, Audio prompt says Behind

I ran a half marathon yesterday using PacePro and a mapped course and PacePro segments set to every mile.

On each segment change the Audio prompt gave the summary of the upcoming segment and also reported me as being X seconds behind. This contradicted the watch display of X seconds ahead (X was the same). Towards the end when the tiredness kicked in and the hills started winning, this flipped so the watch said behind and the audio said ahead - either way there was a contradiction.

Is the audio getting confused with the +/- symbol before the time?

I am on v8.37, I last used PacePro on v8.16 (1st May) and did not notice this was an issue but that's not saying it just was missed.

  • Exactly same problem with Fenix 6X Sapphire

    #Fenix6

  • I encountered this same behavior on my Descent Mk2i when using PacePro for the first time in a training run. I was very confused about the audio cues saying I was "behind" my target pace, and the visual cues saying I was "ahead" of my target pace.

I eventually just ignored the audio cues since my actual pace was substantially faster than my target pace, so I knew I was "ahead". The differing cues would be confusing when actual and target paces are close.

  • Seems like a simple fix to make - just reverse the if conditions.

I'm not sure why it is taking so long ? Garmin ?

  • This has been fixed a few software releases ago.

  • I just ran my half with Pace Pro with the latest public release on my 6 pro and I had this same issue. It was driving me nuts when all my data showed I was ahead but it was telling me via audio prompts that I was “behind.”

  • I used Pace Pro yesterday and the Audio prompts had enabled themselves (I have previously turned them off because of this annoying bug) but I left them on expecting the issue to still be present and it wasn't! It seems as though this must have been fixed in a Automatic update from Garmin can anyone else confirm?

  • Old thread - BUT I am on a F6 pro and I still get this - theoretically I am on the latest (?) software - v27.00 - @GARMIN surely it should not be THAT hard to adjust the "rules" as to what the watch says via bluetooth headphones. You are ahead (i.e. faster or - x seconds on the pace you are trying to maintain or beat?), You are behind (i.e. you are slower and + x seconds off the pace?). When I know that I am running flat out and I am 10 to 15 seconds faster than the pace I am "racing" - telling me I am behind is incorrect... At least after reading this thread and others I know I am not the only one that picked this up and is confused by @GARMIN's "logic" or lack thereof (or purely a programming glitch that is VERY low down on their priorities).
