I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use that space better. Why is this not an option? And telling us yes you technically can but then telling us we risk damaging our device isn't an acceptable answer

The are several reasons to delete these maps on my new Fenix 7s:
1) I hate tech companies telling me what I should have on a device I purchased at considerable expense. It's mine to use as I wish, not…
Yeah, this is really annoying.
This should be in the setup process of any watch:
Do you play golf? Yes/No
If user selects "No". The maps should be gone and everything referring to golf on the watch, in…

Yeah, what the hell is that about?
Who cares about golfing??

By contrast, deleting ski maps would save only about ~25mb. Barely worth the trouble. (I'd keep these anyway.)

Well, many people care about golfing - me not being one - but I also cannot comprehend how these are so important to the system that they must remain there. I have all of Europe on my F7, and there's hardly room for anything else; I'd love to remove those golf maps!
Sure, I'm glad for golfers that they have those available. But that's not me!
I used Garmin Basecamp to identify the golf courses and topo maps that's pre-installed in my APAC 7x SS, followed a manual removal guide I came across on the web, and according to Garmin Express, my 7x has a ton of space with no golf, POIs or Topo maps installed. I use my watch purely for trail running and road riding activities. One post I came across, Garmin support advises against deleting the 49MB Worldwide Autoroute DEM Basemap NR SE.

Yeah, that would probably mess up altimeter calibration!
I wouldn't see the point in deleting all maps anyway, including the little ones. The only reason, I guess, would be if you never use maps at all and want as much music as possible - but does anyone really need 16gb or 32gb of music loaded onto their GPS watch?. If someone wants to have no maps at all and tons of music, it sounds more like a scenario for an Apple, Samsung, or Wear OS watch.
From 2016 to 2021, Fenix 3HR to Enduro both have no maps. The only reason I got the Fenix 7X, my wife inherited the Enduro and instead of another Enduro, I chose the 7X for its longer battery life. Not only is there no maps or golf courses (apart from the essential DEM map) or music practically all metrics are turned off except for Heart Rate, VO2max, Temperature and All Systems satellites. I use the watch for Trail Running and Cycling only.
So all that space is just empty, then? I don't see the point of emptying all that space to leave it blank, but it's your watch!

2) I hate golf and do not want to see anything to do with it.
3) Garmin wants to update them. In my current GE I have updates to 3 Golf Regions, all in the MB range. So I am forced to update them or constantly see them in GE.
In several manual sections you can read that Golf Maps can be deleted. One using Connect, when you try this it tells you that Map Manager is only available on the watch itself!
Another manual entry states that if you select the Map on the watch, pressing start gives you the option to "Remove".
Both rubbish nothing works and they are still waiting to be updated on my watch.
I tried install the Garmin Golf App to see if you could delete Maps with that, of course that would be asking too much.
Garmin needs to update the device and adhere to it's manual instructions.
