I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use that space better. Why is this not an option? And telling us yes you technically can but then telling us we risk damaging our device isn't an acceptable answer

Yeah, this is really annoying.
This should be in the setup process of any watch:
Do you play golf? Yes/No
If user selects "No". The maps should be gone and everything referring to golf on the watch, in…
I agree, deleting golf maps ought to be officially supported. You can save ~1.5gb of space that way - especially significant on the 16gb Fenix models. I never golf and I'm sure many users never do.…
The are several reasons to delete these maps on my new Fenix 7s:
1) I hate tech companies telling me what I should have on a device I purchased at considerable expense. It's mine to use as I wish, not…
Well, it could be holding music
I asked about this months ago, got nowhere.
But somebody did send me the golf map files and said you can delete them, and I did, and the device kept on working ok.
Most people dont give a F..k about golf so why should we be stuck with 1.5GB of bloody golf courses.
Its the most bizzare thing I have heard about the F7, duh, you need to have golf maps for proper device operation. WTF, get a grip Garmin. !!!!
No reason other that Garmin decided not to offer option to delete it. Just one of silly annoyances that make user experience worse than it could be. What is the most interesting is that this is simple to rectify, yet no one from Garmin pays attention to such things.
Yeah, this is really annoying.
This should be in the setup process of any watch:
Do you play golf? Yes/No
If user selects "No". The maps should be gone and everything referring to golf on the watch, in Garmin Connect and in Garmin Connect web should disappear.
Plain and simple.
It's really not something that "everyone does", so why force it on everyone?!
I deleted mine in Explorer
\fenix 7S\Internal Storage\GARMIN
The 3 files are;
D13994xxx.img - CourseView Europe Middle East and Africa
D24193xxx.img - CourseView Americas
D24714xxx.img - CourseView Pacifics
NB: xxx will be the Map version
I had to eject the watch, reconnect and sync. The 3 maps are still shown in GE but now the tick boxes are empty. When I ejected again, it said "Loading Maps". I went into Map Manager in Settings and I only have my Topo Europe. no Course Maps.
The watch is still working.
Oh, I certainly agree with deleting golf maps. I was responding to another user who seemed to make a special point of having no maps at all, nor music, and just leaving nearly all the watch storage empty.
This worked for me. Only notice is that the pacific file name is actually D2471xxxx
