Fenix 6 Sapphire vs Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire - side to side pictures..

Hi everyone,

here my two babies side to side.

I've now to sell one (I meant to be the 6 !) but...

Not tested fully and no training yet but no WOW effect...

- display visibility bad vs 6 Sapphire that was bad vs my previous Forerunner. I'd need glasses by force now ! I can barely see the data on that watch face (big fonts even)

- solar ring is awful and more visible than watch face data and it is then a "distractor" especially for data closer to it

- I love the light grey color of full titanium ring (no DLC) but...I fear it's going to be delicate and will get scratched soon (vs 6 Sapphire DLC).

- the rear ring holding the sensors looks less smooth than 6's and wearing 24h may leave its mark (to be tested)

- the metal pins are terribly difficult to remove ! I normally do it for cleaning and replacing the nylon strap (I don't use often the quick fit bracelets since more difficult to adjust when I run and sleep). Before buying I asked Garmin whether those were the same and interchangeable and the answer was positive....

- what else ? I'll test it well during the next few days and will decide which one to keep..

Display visibility is the thing that is keeping me away from selling the Fenix 6x pro solar (which i primarily chosen for material and color) for a Fenix 7... And honestly... I am actually thinking to sell it for a plain (non solar...) 6xPro.

I really miss the clarity of my old Fenix 6 which had plain gorilla glass (like your old forerunner, ai guess, being both non sapphire), and I don't like the amoled option for a watch, which basically makes the fenix 6 non solar the best available choise for my taste.

Unfortunately... Among the countless versions of the Fenix 6 the one that would be perfect for me is not present (would be Fenix 6x pro titanium - black with carbon gray DLC coated bazels; this only exists in solar version, which is the one I have)

  • Agree! I'm still debating what to do with the Fenix 7, in fact I still have the 6 in its box and I don't know whether to sell it or keep it.

  • Oh yeah, the "pure" titanium is going to be a problem.  I bet it will wear down and you won't be able to read menu, light, down, back and start.  Good thing it's a touch screen.  Are those stress cracks on your F7 bezel?   First time I've seen that, read about it many times.

Oops, I left sarcasm turned on, never mind, forget what I said above.

I'm sure the titanium/chestnut will look great in a year. I was thinking about that option but went with black so my wife wouldn't notice a new watch.  Kinda like my guns, black is my usual color for firearms, "Oh, this old thing, had it for years..."

  • I'm going to sell my F6, it's doesn't do anything better than the F7.  The F7 is really going to rock once the bugs are worked out of the firmware.  8.14 beta does a lot of things right!

Go ahead, move on, sell the F6 - someone out there needs it more than you.
