Issues and bugs with Strength Training

  • The lap button forces us back to the (not that well thought through) exercise list every time and makes the other pages or custom pages redundant.

Timer/Countdown in exercise list is only visible after scrolling, while it could be perfectly active in the middle of the screen without manual input after each set:
Just put it right next to the static info about how long the pause is. Then you could just put the actual time of the day in the field that can be reached by scrolling. Then that page would be showing vital information without user input and be at least useful.

  • Multiple weight bugs with custom strength training:
    Requirements:
    - own workout with weights set and one bodyweight exercise in the middle
    - count reps turned on (because without reps you are not asked for weight even if "edit weight" is on)
    - edit weight turned on
  • Bug 1: When ignoring the rep counter (because it counted correctly) it will record weight 0 in the activity.

If I enter the "edit reps" screen and go through to the "edit weight" screen it will preselect the weight set in the training to edit or confirm.

Also if "edit weight" is off the pre-planned weight is always recorded in the activity correctly, no matter if reps are adjusted or ignored.

  • Bug 2: If a bodyweight exercise follows a weight exercise it will show the weight of the previous weight exercise instead of 0 as it should be. And it will be 0 in the stored activity if the rep counter is skipped.

If "edit weight" is off in will always record the correct weight preset in the activity no matter if its 0 for bodyweight or a larger value for a weight exercise.

  • Bug 3: If I have a weight like 22,5 it gets rounded up to 23 if I skip the repcounter.  (Possibly fixed with firmware 18?)

  • Bug 4: When editing weight on the watch the digit after the decimal point has no "endless scrolling" like the other ones

  • When the watch detects an exercise as "bodyweight" it will remove the weight as soon as you hit edit in the interface (web and app), even though a weight was entered on the watch. For example "squat".

  • If I skip a set that already started, the first exercise still shows up in the summary.

  • "skip upcoming set" is only available in a "pause until lap press" but not in a pause with countdown.

  • Changing the background color in settings does not change the color on the set page. Color will be the opposite when switching though pages during pause or training state (as color is used to differentiate those)

  •  Long German translation of repetitions in exercise preview before starting it hides number of reps:

  • Optionally having "edit weight: on" only for free training but not for a planned training would be nice
  • I add my thoughts too:

I have predefined screens for weight training (with hr graph, timer, actual time, set timer etc). Now the watch always shows the plan in stead the screen where I started the exercise with the lap button. Would be good if the watch would go back to the lastly displayed screen after the rep counter setting (rep / weight setting at the end of the exercises).

If I am doing super or tri sets (no rest between them) the rep editor only offers to edit the last exercise. I need to confirm, push the middle left button and edit manually. It's tooooo sloooow this way.

KrapfenKingel's ideas are good, I support them too.

At the plan view would be good to see not only the timer when resting, but also the preseted weights of the next exercise.

  • Also it would be nice when you add weight or rep on the watch it saves what you added for the next time you do the workout, instead of always going to the garmin app.

  • Any other changes on 8.14 yet?

Besides for dialing in the weight.

  • I haven't updated yet but does garmin actually read these post?

  • Hi krap,

I've updated and nothing has changed but what you been mentioned.

  • Yea that would be really useful to see the weight for the next step before it starts..

  • Anyone else notice you can't remove strength workouts from the watch?

  • Also not a huge fan of tapping through every digit when entering the weight now, still from my preplanned view.

So now I have to dial 100,0 kg down to 0kg (because the watch has the bug and does not realize that a 0kg bodyweight exercise should prompt 0kg in the weight screen).

So before I dialed the 1 of 100 down to 0, tapped through 00 and was done. Now I have to scroll that 1 down and tap 0  0  0 . Maybe leave that green "I'm done" checkmark in the upper right corner to quickly confirm the weight, if changing one digit in the beginning is enough, without having to go through the rest if not needed.

But then I shouldn't be in that situation anyway because the watch could just use the data from the training plan and put 0 in on its own and I could even turn that "edit weight" function off for my preplanned training.

  • Yeah it's annoying. I don't think garmin reads the forums which is ridiculous garmin, should have a team gathering all the info and fixing all the issues.

  • If you have any issues with any beta version contact the Outdoor team at the address provided. If you have suggestions for improvements use the ideas email address (search for Garmin submit ideas).
