Headphones Vs Activities

Hi,

Just curious if people are having the same problem with drop outs and headphones during activities.  This was a wreck on the 6X, never was fixed absent changing bluetooth versions, and it seems Epix users are having the same problem with Air Pods Pro's and Jabra's, plus a few others.

Bug: Epix Gen 2 Disconnecting and Reconnecting to Bluetooth often - epix 2 - Wearables - Garmin Forums

I can be a sucker, despite my griping, and upgrade every version, but I refuse to upgrade if this is still a problem.  I'll buy a 2nd AW so one is always 100% charged.

  • Yes, the problem still persists. I had a Fenix 6X Sapphire with Jaybird Vista (v1) and the bluetooth disconnects started after ANT/BLE/BT 6.XX firmware. If I switched back to ANT/BLE/BT 5.04 the connection was rock solid.

Now I've switched to Fenix 7X Solar Sapphire, and I've the same problem. :D The only positive is that I can immediately reconnect the headphones, so it takes only a few seconds.

Pretty anoying but I don't know what to do because with other devices my Jaybird Vistas working excellent and stable, so I really don't wan't to switch to another brand. However I don't know if I buy a Jaybird Vista 2 it will work better?!  Or the only way is to switch to Beats or Jabra? Disappointed

  • I like the Air Pods Pro because of the ANC.  I have a pair of Aeroplex that would probably be OK but in more noisy environments they don't work as well.

Sad to hear that they didn't fix this but it'll save me some money, I guess.

  • I have to disable BT on my Samsung Galaxy and then connect my Jabra or Air Pods and then enable BT on my Samsung Galaxy and connect. It will not connect  headphones if they are already connected to my Samsung Galaxy.  Also, I notice the Air Pods have sound issues when my watch is in different relative locations to them.  For example, if I put my watch hand close to my chin it will negatively effect the sound.  This does not happy with my Jabra headphones. Strange.

  • Yes I had the problem on my F6x and now on my F7 with my plantronics BackBeat FIT and my jabra 75t. Randoms disconnection every 10-20min but not every session. I run without phone so my headphone can't disconnect to connect to my phone. I don't use any Bluetooth footpod, HRM run or other sensors which could disturb. I only have my F7 and my headphone with me when I run. Sorry for my English.

  • Exactly the same here! Random disconnect in every 10-20 mins. Good to know that not only Jaybird headphones are affected, so buying a Jabra headphone may not solve the problem. :(

  • For all those having dropouts during activities, I don't have an answer for you and I am not discounting what you are experiencing.  Just want to share what my experience is. I use headphones during multiple types of activities (Cycling, Strength Training, Walking, Hiking, etc.).  In all cases I have my Samsung Galaxy with me and it is connected also to my headphones.  The only issue I have is I have to turn off my BT on my phone, then connect with my 7X then connect with my phone.  When cycling I have the following connected, Samsung Galaxy, Edge 530, Vario Light, multiple sensors (speed, pedals, heartrate, etc) all while using my headphones (Jabra Active 65). I do not have any dropouts with all this going on.

It is so odd to me that some are having this issue as well as poor music quality and others, like me, are not.  In my opinion, Garmin needs to select a good sample of these customers and get their watches returned so they can evaluate these issues.  Perhaps even buy their headphones for evaluation.  BT headphones are not new technology and this should be rock solid for all on this level of watch.
