There are a number of great apps for the 6X that don't work with the 7X. Is there a way we can update them? Thank you.

The developer needs to update his/her development environment, download new files for the new devices, then recompile the widget/data field to enable support for new devices.
So not true that Garmin does it via "app migration"

It's probably not possible.

Side load it from your older device using a computer if the developer hasn't updated yet... .
Just put it in the apps folder...
Thanks for the response. Tried side loading and it wouldn't run. The developer says only Garmin can update the compatibility but I was hoping there's another way.
Shame that the developer can't update because of Garmin? ... All prg's I've tried have all worked unless it's an on screen unlock type code (some codes work differently and do work) also screen resolution can be different, and that just looks off centre...
Solor system live and skywatch work great from a Fenix 5x plus to a Fenix 6x screen resolution, but watchfaces I've tried are off centre.
Did he mention the problem?..
He just said that it's called App Migration, and that only Garmin can do it. I'm coming from a 6X to a 7X. Screen resolution is the same but the hardware chips are not.
Strange.... but Interesting thanks : -)

So, it's to the devs to migrate.
Great Information! So our new 7X's are so new that basically all apps and watch faces need to be reconfigured for the new platform by a developer. Previously Garmin could perform app migration for new watch releases but the 7X is too much of a change. I'm not a developer but am very interested in the process. I also wish we still had some of the great apps that were developed for the 6X! Well maybe over time some of them will be updated.

Yes, you're right. The problem seems that there is both new HW and new SW.
I think many devs have already upgraded their app/df/wf or are working on it. The best way for users is to contact the devs and ask for the upgrade.

The easiest way for upgrading is for the developer to download the SDK 4.x and the profiles for Fenix 7 and EPIX 2. Then recompile the app and check the graphical representation. And if he is lucky, there are no errors and all works fine. Otherwise he need to adjust the code accordingly.
