Massive battery drain since Firmware 25.00

Since firmware update yesterday 22/3/23 - My Fenix 6x Pro is suffering massive battery drain - 30% in 12Hrs! The watch is watch mode only since yesterday, so no GPS or activity tracking (except for usual HR Steps and always on Pulse Ox).  Anyone else having this issue ?

  • Following a soft reset initial performance in a very stripped down watch mode is back to 1.7% @ day. Yet to check consumption when hiking but prior to v25 it was using around 2% @hour when mostly on data screens and 4%@hour when constantly displaying the map screen.

  • Same here. After upgrading it to version 25.0, I noticed the battery drain also.

  • My Fenix 6s pro solar used 2% battery to record an 8min 30sec bike ride. Used about 15% to record 16 minutes of cycling and just under an hour of strength activity.  Battery drain was nowhere near as bad as this prior to 25.0 update.

  • I tested my battery and lasted for me 8 days. Sleep Pulse OX on, phone connected always and the usual notifications. During my training I always use HRM Pro chest strap.

    Day 1

    • Strength 1h with HRM
    • Gps walk 12mins

    Day 2

    • Strength 1h 16mins with HRM

    Day 3

    • No activity

    Day 4

    • No activity

    Day 5

    • No activity

    Day 6

    • Strength 1h 10 mins with HRM
    • Stair stepper 23 mins with HRM

    Day 7

    • Walk GPS 18 mins
    • Strength 1h 15 mins with HRM

    Day 8

    • Strength 52mins with HRM

Hope this help guys. And I'm on with the latest fw 25.00

To be honest I expected more days but maybe because of the chest strap. Was an experiment my sleep pulse ox always turned off.

  • I usually have at least 15% battery when i go out hiking for the day but since the update of my Garmin Fenix 6S, it dies in about 5 hours. Another hiker had the same watch, settings, just not the update and lasted the full hike with 8% battery

  • So update as still no improvement since original my post following both soft and hard reset - watch discharging at an average of 34.4% per day / 3.1% per hour

    • Still use Pulse/Ox - on all day setting (agree I could turn this off for improvement - but was on pre FW25.00 and averaged 6+ days per charge on FW24.xx)
    • No activities have been recorded since last full charge (excludes moveIQ and step counting)
    • Minimal backlight usage (set to 5% max anyway so pretty low)
    • Minimal engagemeent with the watch during the day i.e. no button presses or menu cycling
    • Connected to Garmin Connect Mobile on Android ver 4.64 (Samsung Note 10+) - Only new WhatsApp / alerts on all other alerts suppressed.

    Additional issues now found:

    1. Does not count all (just some) strokes when in-door rowing (not connected to my WaterRower as separate SR app, so self detection)
    2. Resets at random during indoor cycling connected to TACX Flux 2 trainer and Wahoo Tickr HR belt
    3. After a sync/charge will revert to watch-face to not the one I use - annoying as need to change after every charge
    4. Will randomly not play audio on my connected Jabra Elite 75 BlueTooth earphones when outdoor running - cure is to stop playing music (from Spotify) and power cycle the headphones.  Mostly does this before you start so you can usually correct before you head out
    5. Wahoo Tickr HR seems to start OK then reports constant 215 bpm heart rate - feel this is more a HR belt issue but could be related - have reported again to Wahoo... but as per no response from them! Fix - disconnect the Wahoo Tickr HR and use optical watch HR

Thats about it for now ... not a great Exp Garmin - any chance you might want to get involved and share some thoughts especially as I'm not ready to move to a Fenix 7 Plus as yet, had hoped there was some longevity left in my 6xPro !

  • I had the same problem after switching from 20.50 to 23.xx suddenly terrible power consumption from 1.7% and above per hour ! Here on the forum most Garmin users write that from sw 23.xx to the current 25.xx is a huge battery consumption. So after two days I couldn't stand it ( it was driving me crazy and nothing was helping to solve my problem ) and I went back down to sw 20.00 and I have again a consumption of about 0.3% per hour ! So I'm now calm again.

  • Any ideas where one could get that 20.50? Official link doesn't seem to have a downloadable file...

  • @Kvasimodoo - Thanks for this - still frustrating to hear the long silence from GARMIN on this forum for this clearly massive issue we’re a month down now and no new 25.xx patch/fix - Poor.  If Iwanted to be on BETA code I would have signed up to the BETA program!!
