But Garmin already does that kind of buffering/smoothing, so you don't need to do it again. It just wastes code and adds 15 seconds more delay. When you use the wrist HR the (just display the default HR on a datascreen) and do quick, short intervals you'll see that. That's one of (for me the main) the reasons why people prefer to use chest strap, because there it's more stabe, so there's less delay. If you also add my datafield to the same screen and pair it to an ANT chest strap then you'll see what am I talking about. If you also add a datafield that uses your algorithm then you'll see that it just adds unnecessary delay. This is ANT+ HRM: apps.garmin.com/.../7c83d402-4b68-4f0a-b167-7139788a19b3
Yes you could be right! Garmin add an algorithm to smooth and buffer the HR DATA. Maybe the bug is in the algorithm? Maybe last FW update is the “butler” ;-)
Anyway in my app i sample the HR every second and do an average on 15 seconds which is displayed as a bar on the chart. Actually It works fine with the chest band but not with wirst.
this is another thing happened to me last week! Due the fact the post is 2 years old i think that the bug is still there!!!
forums.garmin.com/.../heart-rate-monitor-dropping-to-circa-130bpm-when-over-170bpm
I was thinking: i m 1969, my max HR is around 170 bpm (more or less) maybe the algorithm reaching my max crash or something happen...
Hi everybody,
i tried again in 2 different watch:
fenix 5x plus:
fenix 6x plus:
fenix 6x plus is the worst case! HR sensor stop to respond just 4 minutes after the begin of the activity. Fenix 5x plus did better... worked for 15 minutes and then HR samples stucked at 130/140 bpm. Then moving the watch and changing some setting begin to work normally... i'm depressed...
I'm done... I will advice the users to use the chest band and not the wrist sensor.
We all go through this... this is how my datafield was born to enable me to compare the watch and the chest HR: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/314512/ant-hrm-heart-rate-monitor-data-field and ever since I only use the strap.
today is not the day! On my iphone the garmin connect app got an update! The watch got disconnected and there is no way to get it back online.... i tried everything, reboot both, softreset watch, re-install garmin connect, switch off on the bt... bah!
i'm going to sleep just to avoid the growing needs of throwing the watch outside through the window hoping that a van could pass over it...
