I haven't tried it yet, but that's the way I understand it.

Thank you!
It seems I need to encourage my friends with fenix and MARQ to perform an activity in the same time %)
I know for 40 km limit, but all of us in the same city.
Ditto - and most of my "group" activities are done outside of cell service so the feature wouldn't work anyways. Been wanting to try it for ages - maybe I'll set it up with my kid's Instinct tonight and…

These instructions are for starting a GroupTrack session with fēnix® devices. If your connections have other compatible devices, you can see them on the map. The other devices may not be able to display GroupTrack riders on the map.
I interpret "the map" to mean specifically on the Fenix 6 watch's on-screen map (as opposed to the smartphone's map). What it's essentially saying is, you'll be able to see anyone in your group who has a GroupTrack-enabled device on your map, but those other people may not have devices themselves that can display grouptrack members on their own maps. In other words, some devices (I guess devices without any built-in mapping functionality, like Venu/vivoactive, maybe?) can send its grouptrack location to other members' devices, but aren't capable of showing grouptrack members on their own map.

Before you can start a GroupTrack session, you must have a Garmin Connect account, a compatible smartphone, and the Garmin Connect app.

Thank you, I have read it.
Lets assume everything listed below is done.
Is it mean all in group should simple start an activity to be visible for each other?
OR
It should be the same type of activity? OR exactly the same activity? ie Trail Run and Run are not compatible to see each other on the device map?
As far as I am aware - it's pretty activity agnostic so it shouldn't matter. I've not really had chance to test it though.
As it works through livetrack, and livetrack doesn't say what activity type it is - I suspect that this is the case.
Thank you!

Yeah I'm a pretty solitary runner but I've been meaning to test it myself for ages!

I'm thinking it could be super useful at theme parks, to more easily locate the kiddo if he runs off.
I don't think the Instinct is compatible with the Group Track function.

I think (but not 100% sure) that means the grouptrack can't be viewed on the Instinct, but I believe you can still view an Instinct user's location on a compatible device (like the Fenix). It looks like you only need to have a device that supports Livetrack, which Instinct does. It'll just be a one-way thing, where I can see his location on my Fenix, but his Instinct won't show my location. If I'm understanding it correctly, anyways.
That would be cool. If that logic holds, then I should be able to see my son with his FR245. I feel an experiment coming on this weekend.
