After update I have gotten a couple of heartrate alarms while sitting doing nothing (checked and absolutely normal), had a few way over hr readings while exercising and now it's doing the zombie overnight drain thing again, 47% battery to 1% last night...

Well, it's still bad hiking, now worse by a lot with that and everything else = release update?? 

For what it's worth (and this is not meant to invalidate the messages by people with problems), my optical hr seems much improved since 12.20. I do an occasional indoor bike run (only has primitive computer + handlebar hrm) and yesterday I didn't bother wearing my HRM-Run Strap. My watch totally agreed with the bike hrm, as has been the case when wearing the strap. I have the Fenix 6S Pro, worn more tightly on wrist than during day-to-day use. Maybe the smaller size/fit played a role...

And this is exactly the point of my post. From the time of the first FW update, and rest assured every future FW update, you'll have people say it's worse, better, or the same.  

Sure, always a few report "better than ever" with major problems reported for others, odd. But after a few of these I think a lot of times it has to do with other issues like fortuitous restart right after update ( multiple restart corrected several problems on a previous update, hoping..) and other things (not necessarily you) like not really gauging/knowing your own stats well before and finally (probably you by self report) user error correction like not wearing the strap tightly corrected. Like you said too, it does feel like an invalidation of reported issues to some people, especially when it's a vague "it's better now" wo reason what observed is working better. Aside from the alarm going off a couple times that I had never heard before and obvious observed hr spikes that are obviously not reality, I haven't observed my most recent performance closely enough to know if otherwise it's doing a good job. Possibly its randomly triple counting beats to get high enough for the hr alarm but otherwise ok? I've restarted a few times and random onset of 47% battery drain over 8hrs seems to have stopped.. but never gotten a likely answer as to why it does this since the previous update..multiple restarts does seem to work till next update..

Sure, but there are actual reasons for this that I hope to sort out by posting and reporting! :) So far his "better" seems to be very strongly linked to user error (strap must be tightened correctly for any sensor, I have been guilty of this too and try to tighten before an activity I'm interested in performance during), and obvious hr spikes, random "OMG you're dying" alarm, and battery bombing out overnight aren't answered, and also aren't really countered by his statement even if correctly observed.. So far "garmin update means you need to keep restarting your watch for a while" is the only possible solution I've found to the battery bomb, hoping it helps the other 2..but really would like to know anyone's solutions/observation to figure it out..
