I don't use any, because they only take away information from the map, high contrast for example, just removes information, (in my opinion, and in how I use a map) I'd rather have a different map all together…

Hi Richard... thanks for your lovely reply to my helpful post....I can see you have little experience.
My suggestion to you....
At least check if your right before you reply....
It is compatible..... Loads of us use it..... Just buy it and it will work through basecamp.... Why don't you go and research it... Ignore the outdated compatability list...
Good day.

I, and many others here, use the Garmin Birsdseye Imagery on our Fenix watches. It works great, without issue. It is fully compatible, despite not being on the official compatibility list.
I use High Contrast theme with with Low details setting because I find that optimal to glance on when trail running. I don't need all the details. I just need to know where the trails are and other major terrain features.
Lately I've been experimenting with making my own variant on High Contrast theme which is even higher contrast.
In my older notes I wrote that it was lacking a lot of details and forests are rendered as yellow on my Fenix watch. Tried again this morning and yes, still the same poor quality.
If your area is covered from userbeam.de I strongly prefer that one, which is also updated weekly, at least for my region.
I use https://garmin.opentopomap.org/
and userbeam on my watch too..Great maps..... Userbeam I use just for courses,as its not routable, but is one of my favourite colourfully designed maps.
I highly recommend both.
I have nine hike profiles and have a different map for each one... makes choosing easier lol...

Are you sure about that? Website states the opposite and if I remember correctly, I once routed with that map. Only once because I mistakenly set to be routed instead of following the preset route, which is what I always want while hiking.
I'm sure it doesn't route properly on my watch..... It will not route correctly and consistently for me...
I get positive consistant correct routing with Frikart and other maps.
But I still think its one of my best maps for courses, or roaming in my area, because of how easy it is to read with bright contrasting colours, it looks fantastic, paired with other transparent overlays.
Thanks. I'll give it a try. Actually, during use yellow forests make other map objects easier to see.
Some pic of userbeam.... Great contrast in colours
I pair it with a transparent contours map..... It has its own up to date trails...... But I also overlay a trails map with the same details but stands out more.
