Hi all, just saw this when I wanted to put on the watch after waking up. Watch was lying there for 8 hours...
Well, the watch wasn't moving and it was on a hard non-reflective surface and I also use the night mode where it switched everything off so I guess this is another bug. I'll report to Garmin accordingly…
It is strange though. I had FR935 for 3 year and never had this message.
Now on the Fenix 6 pro I got it already 4 times in 7 months.
There must be something related to the sensor or the design/weight…
WHR can still be tricked into producing numbers if the light is not reflected back evenly as has been noted; one of the reasons why I can still get WHR when my watch is on the handlebars. You might want…
I woke up at 8am, in Italy it's 12.50 still I did not train and I burned to rest 971 kcal and moving 92 kcal.

Done hard reset? Then let us know.
It is a bug and I already contacted Garmin a couple weeks ago and send in a log. Because of this Corona crisis I think all is hanging somewhere now :).
I have this issue for months now when the watch comes out of power saving mode in the morning with in the end heart rate detected like it is on my wrist.
The only time it will not detect heart rate is when the watch is laying on it's glass with nothing laying on the sensor .
BTW don't hard reset cause it will not work!!!
Yes mine came up something similar
Trying doesn't cost anything. I just give advice
something similar happened with my F6pro laying on a table cloth, lights down
as mentioned here in the thread never noticed it with my FR935
my watch doing sports on it's own
happy & safe sporting
Hi all, thanks for the useful and not so useful responses.
This happened once for no obvious reason. No hard reset done, I would only do that if it became annoying on unusable. Everything else works great,I assume this is just a bug.
The watch was sending the pulsing of the light in the sensor. The light can sometimes cross the barriers of the sensor and self create a rhythm that isn't real. Results in high HR reading. Common problem with OHR
Sometimes the lights in the sensor can interact between the barriers creating a cross talk signal. Probably similar to the rate at which the lights flash or a multiple of it. Those would be the case if the surface was truly not reflective, if it were then it would just be the reflection signal or a multiple of that. Common problem in OHR/ signal processing. Might cause issues while wearing as well, but I'm guessing they have some metric to tell when the device isn't being worn. Since it was face down though, it is less accurate and thus the HR sensor was left on.
Forgot too mention it btw. Forgot to leave it face down yesterday. But this is my heart rate when the watch came out battery saving mode without having it on my wrist :).
