Maps takes forever to load

Hi.
When I wrote a review of both Forerunner 945 and Fenix 6 Pro when they first was realised, I pointed out that the maps were loading way much faster than earlier.

I can't say exactly when it happened, but maybe since the last month, the watch(es) uses extremely long time to load maps if I try to use "around me" og "navigate to". Earlier, it took about 20-30 seconds. Now it takes about 90 seconds.

Any thoughts upon this?

I did not try it myself, but also read that some people deleted it, and all works better. But ad i said. I did not try it myself. All at own risk. If you do so, you should backup this file. Maybe rename…

To find the map which causes the problem, you must connect your watch and remove map by map the files in another folder. and each time you disconnect the watch and try the function "around me". be careful some maps mustn't be moved. gmapbmap especially. you should find the map which causes problem.

pour moi, je move "gmapprom (img et gma" et gmapdem (img et gma) dans un autre dossier "/ garmin / svg" et maintenant cela fonctionne bien.

Not just sync with Garmin Express, you need to initiate the "Reinstall Map" of the TopoActive map for your watch (Europe in your case; I bought a N America watch). After you have done this, you will know which map files this relates to from the date and time of the files (the ones with today's date).

I was seeing slow map loads and slow activity settings etc. Reinstalled all maps via Garmin Express and it's miles better

I reinstall maps topoEurope via garmin express. It's now, good. A little bit long (more tjan 20 seconds when i do "around me"), but it works. Thanks

I did that only for "topoactive europe". In garmin express, there is only one map (but two files in folder "garmin" in the watch). I didn't reinstall the others maps becuse i haven't got the utility.

i also had problems connecting Garmin Express, yet would allow me to connect to the watch as a hard drive. I realised one of the pins on the back of the watch was corroded, so gave it a scrub and polish and the watch connected to GE and allowed me to reinstall maps. pin has lost its gold plate, but still works.
