Lol... one example of one guy's watch having a button fall out... Garmin replaced it, no problem. Based on just that, you've decided their quality is terrible.
If products had a 100% success rate…
Mine fell off too. But at least the Sapphire glass hasn't scratched. Would be good if the build was equally as good as the glass. Guess good build would cost more inline with the incremental £ increase…
I bought the Fenix 6x Sapphire watch yesterday, came home, and while doing the first settings, the left down button just popped out. I could hardly found the butten and the spring. I am taking the watch back to the store. what does Garmin do in cases like that?
You should keep the button and the spring , for the future ! Imagine that some how , outside of warranty you louse the button ? prepare some 100-150€ for the repair !
I don't think the button is something you can replace without disassembling the watch housing. There's a retention mechanism (which was broken in the example in this thread), and presumably also a gasket, which would prevent you from removing or inserting the button without damaging the mechanism. Disassembling these watches ourselves is generally a bad idea, since it will likely lead to failure of the seals/gaskets if you don't do it right. You have to replace the gaskets with new ones to be sure, and I don't think Garmin sells the gaskets. It's probably a better idea to fork over the $100-$150 that to try to perform the watch surgery yourself.
Make sense to do that with a expensive watch , but not with the fenix 6 , in 2 years will be obsolete , will louse more than 50% of value !
I think an average Joe with the right tools can fix that if have the button and the spring, maybe can scrap olders 3-5 series for the parts ! I spoke for myself , I will use the money to get a new one instead of repair a obsolete electronic devices .
Just happened for me too! I have Garmin 6s sapphire watch for 6 days only and button fell off while I was setting up alarm...
Fenix 5. Received unit and was not even able to set it up. The 'down' button did not resist long enough and popped. Really annoyed, but thankfully the seller is honoring its policy and sent me a replacement right away!
This is the Fenix 6 forum, fenix 5 forum is here: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-5-plus-series
I bought fenix 6 titanium today. I didn't even manage to set it up, and... the button fell out after maybe 5 clicks. Just like this. I am contacting Garmin tomorrow morning.
Hi. The watch got replaced on site. Brilliant service.
Lol. At least they got great warranty service... but what after warranty?
