I'M OUT

I’ve been using Garmin watches since 2012.. After the news today that my epix pro  two of two years will not be receiving the new updates I’m out. The greed of  this company is out of control. I will not buy another $1000 watch.  Onto Polar or Suunto I go.

  • But the new software is now rolled out to the Pro series!!!!!

  • Just minor bug fixes

  • You heard this where? At italkrubbishdotcom? It will not get the features of the latest watches that its hardware does not support. Which is obvious. I literally today got an update on my Epic Pro 2. So please make accurate statements...or..if I am wrong then post the URL when Garmin is announcing this and I will apologise!

  • It will not get the features of the latest watches that its hardware does not support.

The Epix, Epix Pro, Fenix 7/7 Pro can support these features. The Fenix E is exactly the same hardware as the Epix Gen 2 and it's receiving those features. The EPIX Pro is a more capable watch than the Fenix E but it's not receiving them

Here's the link of the change log:

Feel free to list any new features added to the Epix or the Epix Pro since the release of the Fenix 8.

  • It's so refreshing to see that they are not even proof reading their announcements. Here we will reach above 100% rollout, probably going to other watches too!

Today we started the rollout of Software Version 23.18, currently we are at 100% with this rollout and we will increase the % as time goes by

  • The point of this topic is the statement made: "After the news today that my epix pro two of two years will not be receiving the new updates I’m out.". I am saying this statement need to quantified. What does it mean? The Epix Pro2 is still getting updates and fixes. It is possible that some features specific to the latest Fenix 8 Pro may not come to the Epix Pro 2 due to limitations of hardware. But this is not a generic "Epix Pro2 will no longer get updates" - that is rubbish. If garmin will stop updates to the Epix Pro2 - there will be an announcement - is there one?

  • Fenix 7 Series (entire family) are now in maintenance lifecycle state.

" It is possible that some features specific to the latest Fenix 8 Pro may not come to the Epix Pro 2 due to limitations of hardware."

Fenix E which is part of the Fenix 8 Series, is a rebranded Epix 2 standard with the same system and features like Fenix 8. No limitation at all, only marketing choice.

Garmin use the same SoC since 2021 for all their watches, not only F7 compared to F8, but all models from Venu 2 to FR970 ...

  • It is beyond ridiculous. I have a Tactix 8, and thus all latest functions. Nevertheless, I am VERY annoyed that I cannot use the same functions on my expensive Marq 2 Carbon. Never understood why Garmin put an old fashioned HR sensor in that new device (despite V5 was already long used in other devices), that's another discussion but it says a lot about Garmin's product development (and I was stupid enough to buy the thing knowing it already was behind on hardware features).

  • In other news, I'm pissed that my 2011 Windows XP computer doesn't have a USB-
C port. I mean, WTF? I paid good money for that computer. I can't believe they're not updating it to current standards.

  • Hi, thanks to stop trolling without any knowledge
