I'm having more or less the same problem with the Epix I bought 3 years ago. It's starting to have a bluish tinge, more noticeable on white. I hope it lasts long enough before a new model comes out, perhaps a fenix 8 Pro.
Display burn-in is normal on every AMOLED device, regardless of its price or brand. If you want a long life, avoid using the Always On feature, and do not use the highest intensity when not necessary. Or buy a watch with the passive MIP display instead.
I'm still using the same watch and it doesn't really bother me as that watchface is my main one.
The white/blank background was just to show the burn-in but it's rarely used within the different menu. I can see the burn-in while checking some particular stuff or when i really focus on the map but it's still not a big deal.
It's not to defend Garmin, it's just my personal opinion. The watch is still working well after 3 years and half and i can't complain except for this issue.
I have the Epix Pro. Are you telling me that a €1,000 watch, using it properly, is going to start breaking down in three years? I don't see that as normal. I've seen Apple Watches that are over five years old without any problems like that.
It really depends on how you use your watch, what's your screen brightness, in how bright conditions you use it and how lucky you are...
Are you telling me that a €1,000 watch
Unfortunately the price does not really play a role. All AMOLED displays burn in. You cannot avoid it, you can only delay it by using it wisely. For example one of the most stupid ways of using AMOLED displays is enabling the Always On Display option, and turning the intensity to the highest level.
