No Breathing Variations in Garmin Connect app

Yesterday I installed the latest firmware on my Epix Gen2 which should support Breathing Variations. I also enabled Pulse Ox during sleep. In last night’s sleep data I see values for Pulse Ox and average respiration. But there is no Breathing Variations tab/button under the sleep graph. When I check the sleep widget on my watch, Breathing Variations is there, stating Minimal with no bars in the graph. Why is this not showing on the GC app? I use the latest GC app version on iOS, version 5.13.0.27.

  • After 2 nights the option suddenly came available in de GC app. It happened after I upgraded iOS to 18.5 and the phone rebooted because of that.

  • The last 2 nights I got a “No breathing variations data” for some reason. Pulse Ox is enabled and I see data during sleep. So… this has worked for 2 days, and only one of these 2 is visible in the GC app.

  • I was just looking at the breathing variation screen which was added as a sleep screen in the latest stable update a few days ago.

For what ever reason mine just has text telling me no breathing variation data is available and to sleep with my watch on and pulse ox enabled.

I meat both criteria the message states and have done since owning the watch (Pulse ox is set to all day not sleep only if that matters). I wouldn’t have imagined it requires a baseline/training period like skin temp or HRV.

Does anyone else have this data showing or does anyone who was on the beta know if there is x day training period?

  • Last 6 nights, 3 nights have breathing variations data and 3 have no data available… so this new function seems to work at random somehow.
