Epix gen2 can't purchase golf membership

Within golf app my watch is showing connected, when I go to try free golf membership, a screen asking to connect a device keeps popping up, I've been in contact with garmin via email and phone and have received six different answers with no fix.  Last answer was it was going to be fixed with a data patch, I don't know what to believe anymore, I've reset everything, all software is up to date.  I even generated a new account at their request.

Golf membership was my #1 priority with this watch and it doesn't work feel ripped off

  • Everytime I go to try and buy or free trial on golf app it keeps asking to add a device even when my epix gen2 is showing as connected.  This has been going on for six weeks and getting run around from Garmin with six different answers so far none of which worked hoping someone had similar problem.

All software update, hard reboots ect.....

  • Update as of May 23nd, 2025:

If you own an epix Pro Gen 2 or other device that is listed as compatible here with the Garmin Golf Membership subscription...please review the following path has been followed when attempting to subscribe to the Garmin Golf Membership Subscription:

    1. Open the Garmin Golf app on your smartphone > Select the Profile tab > My Devices > Confirm your epix Gen 2 Pro is showing "Connected"
    2. Then go back one screen and scroll to the top of the "Profile" menu > Select your name in the orange box > On the next screen, select the option showing "Garmin Golf Membership/Start your free trial" and proceed to attempt subscribing from there to see if you get the prompt asking to add a compatible device.

If during the subscription enrollment, you are receiving a pop-up showing "Please Add a Device - To purchase the Garmin Golf Membership, you must have a device that is compatible with the Garmin Golf app" ...please post here for confirming and I will get your issue reported to the ticket our team is currently reviewing for devices that are compatible with the membership being registered not allowing the opt-in.

    - Thank you

  • @Garmin-Cody - is this a Garmin Golf or watch issue? Also facing the same problem here with an Epix Pro 47mm - have a golf tour starting in a weeks time where this subscription was going to be needed; thank you

  • The issue is not being caused directly by the watch.

We do not have specific timeline on when the solution our team is working on will become released, but once we have a resolved the concern for devices that sync in Garmin Connect not allowing subscription...users will be notified once the Garmin Golf app is able to proceed with the subscription.

  • I'm confused Cody your first post says testing a fix and be out near future while in this one your saying their's no timeline on a solution or a fix.  Which one is it, I'm getting the run around.  This issue was not mentioned or identified anywhere I could find on your website.  I very disappointed and zero compensation or alternate solution other than a sorry and to bad.

  • Edited:

Comment removed as not relevant to initial issue thought tied to the symptom.

  • Thanks for reply, hopefully a free year subscription for all involved.  And my soon vs a software developer soon different big time. But I do appreciate the update

  • I searched forum for topics about this problem, closest I could find was two years ago someone asking about green contours. You touched on purchasing membership to access it, so it worked 2 years ago and not now.  I'm just not prepared to wait another month or two, I purchased a product that not doing what it should do and a month old.  I still don't like it'll be out whenever.  Feel free to direct to links about similar forum write ups.

  • After further review, your specific model is actually not compatible with the Garmin Golf membership subscription and is not related to the ticket for other products we have had reports of receiving that same alert when attempting to subscribe to the Garmin Golf membership.

Only the Pro Editions of the Epix Gen 2 series are compatible...so if you have an epix Gen 2 non-pro edition, the Garmin Golf Membership subscription is not advertised nor is it supposed to be compatible with your model.

The behavior you are seeing within the Garmin Golf app when attempting to subscribe is by-design for your non-pro edition.

If needed, you can review the compatible device list for the Garmin Golf Membership through our web page linked here: https://www.garmin.com/p/850633/pn/010-13321-SU/#devices

  • In regards to your epix Gen 2 Pro, please confirm the following and please continue to review this post for updates if you continue having concerns with subscribing to the Garmin Golf membership:

If those two steps above have been followed, please let me know and I will make sure you are notified as we have a solution for you to subscribe to the Garmin Golf membership to have access to that product for Green Contours on our course maps that are compatible with the feature.

    - Thank you
