How do you edit additional data fields/screens shown when a course is selected?

I use my EPIX for trail running and always have a course loaded for each run.  I know how to edit the data screens for the activity "Trail Run" of which I have 4 defined.  When I select a course my data screens multiply to include 4 more - Climb Data, compass/course arrow, climb/descent graph and ETE/ETA.  If I have other features such as pace pro and points of interest on the course then 2 more data screens appear.

I was wondering how to edit these additional ones of if they are fixed and standardised when that feature is used.  If they are fixed, I will edit my original 4 configured data screens to avoid duplication.  But if they can be edited, where is this done on the watch or app.  I can't find it anywhere.  Thanks

  • From the Connect app:

    - Tap on the watch in the upper-right hand corner

    - Select your device (Epix)

    - Select Navigation > Data Screens

Here you can enable, disable and customize the screens you mentioned.

    On the watch:

    - Hold UP

    - If you are in an activity: scroll past the activity settings (including Navigation - with no icon) down to the watch settings (the part of the menu with the gear icon and the "Settings" title)

    - Keep scrolling until you see the Navigation item (with an icon)

    - Select Navigation > Data Screens

Yes it's awkward as activity settings and system settings are basically combined into a single menu, and there are two Navigation entries in this context - the 1st is for activity-specific navigation actions and the 2nd is for general navigation settings. Here you want to select the *2nd* Navigation item

  • Thanks so much, this has answered most of my query.  Sharing my observations for anyone else reading this thread.

On the app (and watch - in the systems setting location suggested) I can see 3 toggles which relate to 2 of my 4 course pages and the additional Up Ahead being course points of interest - if used.  Up Ahead, Guide and Elevation Plot therefore correspond to additional screens I am seeing.  The "Climb" segments screen is not selectable here so must be hidden in some other location.  And the ETA/ETE screen is my user defined Screens 1 so that is now solved.

Interestingly, when I try and adjust the data screens on the app I get an error which says it needs to be done on the watch itself.  But that's easily found through your instructions - systems settings, not navigation app as you say.

So very helpful, thank you.  I'm going to keep looking for settlings where the climb segment toggle is.

  • systems settings, not navigation app as you say

Yeah to be clear my point was that if you’re in an activity such as Run already, the activity menu and system settings menu will basically be combined into one long menu, which results in 2 Navigation items. In this case you want the second one. (I know it may seem obvious but I think it’s tripped up a few people before)

I'm going to keep looking for settlings where the climb segment toggle is

    - open activity (eg Run)

    - hold up

    - select [Activity] Settings (eg Run Settings)

    - Select ClimbPro and change Status to Off

  • Amazing. Thank you. I can see climb pro now as an activity related ‘toggle’ rather than a navigation one.

You have been incredibly helpful to clarify something that isn’t as well documented as it cold be (at least to me anyway). Thanks again.
