I don't have it on my Epix Gen 2, either, but I found a free App on the Connect IQ Store that is compatible with many series of watches and works very well:
I installed it on my tactix 7 and found that it records activities in Garmin Connect just like any other Garmin App:
Also, activities recorded with this App count toward the Meditation Challenge in Garmin Connect if you have signed up for Garmin Connect Plus:
I have been using this App for a little over a week, and have found no problems with it.
