it's been a couple of years and yet, no software is fixing my main purpose of the Epix 2 Pro.
i was using X40 for a long time, then i came to know that top of the line Garmin watches support so many more golfing features including the map views.
however, the experience i had with this was well below expectations.
i use record shots, where you can record which club you used after each shot.
1. sensor sensitivity, X40 worked well, picking up near green chipshots. Epix? not so much, more than 80% of near green chipshots are not picked up. i tried to use add a shot, but it gets tired and you just get mad at it. I assume that $1000 watch would have better sensors, why not increase the sensitivity near the green based on GPS data, shots nearby would be softer, so increasing sensitivity would help, no?
2. as mentioned, i use record shot, it SHOULD prompt me to choose clubs i used after each shot. X40 experience-wise, based on distance left from where i made impact to the green, it adjust the club selection near the usual club distance. for example, if i hit from 150 yards, selection would show near 8 iron or 7 iron.
Epix experience, about 20-30% of the time, it just gives you Driver as first option no matter how close you were from the green. i never had huge distance gap on my watch, so i am assuming that the GPS is working fine in most of the time, i think this is just pure software glitch.
3. well, this is not as important, but just a feature that i miss. again, recoding the club you used, each shot you are supposed to select the club you used, however, time to time you would forget to select and hit another. X40 used to show me prompt 2-3 times to record the shots in the past, but on Epix it shows one. based on the club selection option, i assume that it's giving me the entry for first shot, but it would be nice for Epix to have similar logic to enter the club selections for all past shots without entries.
i am more than happy to test out interim SW if you guys want to spend some more time on improving golf feature on the watch.
