Can the Garmin Epix pro Gen2 receive inReach messages from a Garmin inReach?

I am going into The NZ backcountry and am wondering if there is a way for me to receive Garmin inReach messages with the epix pro gen2, from my friend who will be a few ridges over with his garmin inReach. I have ordered the Garmin epix pro gen2 watch. Thanks!

of course you can as long as both of you have the inreach device (if you both don't have phone coverage), while the one who has phone coverage can receive or send messages via the Garmin messenger app (obviously he must have his phone with him)
