Has anyone else noticed that the turn by turn navigation voice prompts are over accurate?

For example i used the course feature yesterday after creating the course in the connect app.  This worked like a dream with the voice prompts prior to the turn and at (just after as has been discussed on other threads).

However my point is that the voice prompt was telling me "left turn in six three five point four seven two metres" ie down to the mm in accuracy.  It's a minor gripe but while running or walking the accuracy needs capping at 1m.

  • I have exactly the same issue. It's way too precise and takes too long to be spoken. If I listen to podcast while running, I loose quite a lot of it because of these alerts now. It was just nice before though. I Don't know when It changed and why.

  • I have the same problem. “Turn left in 5.067m” is frankly just irritating. This on top of the fact we’re now forced to listen to audio turn prompts rather than just have vibrates on the watch to notify of a turn.

And whilst I’m thinking about it, when prompts were on the watch the screen would temporarily show the map and the turn ahead. It seems to no longer do this (I assume as it’s verbally describing in accurate detail what to do and when).

It’s all just a bit of a mess now.

  • Same issue.
After the last update, navigation prompts are given down to a thousandth of a meter, which seems quite strange.Previously, the information was provided only in meters.
Right now, I hear in my headphones something like, "In 867 and 345/1000 meters, turn right."

  • Epix Pro Gen 2. Same issue for me, and very annoying. As mentioned previously, the unnecessarily detailed distance to next turn prompt blocks enough of my podcast or audiobook that I have to try to rewind to catch what I missed. Resolution of 1m is more than sufficient. Garmin, please fix this.

  • I seldom use navigation, but I used it for walking a couple of days ago on firmware 20.22 and, yep, cm precision, or, I think, sometimes mm precision. And this could be when the distance was a couple of hundred metres out more.

  • Yes exactly, I have that in with the Garmin Connect App on my phone while running with a Fenix 7 watch. It's ridiculous, given that Garmin stated that their GPS accuracy is only 5 to 10 meters. And in addition to that, the spoken navigation is a little too late (by a few steps) when it's time to take the actual turn. It says 'turn left' when you just past or took the turn. So it first thinks it knows exactly up to the millimeter where I should take a turn to be a few meters late when it's actually time to take the turn.

This made me search for an option to completely disable the spoken navigation, but I can't find such setting anywhere. Not on the watch and not in the app.

  • I’ve got the same issue on my Fenix 8 as well, since some firmware update in the past months. It is very annoying.

I would have loved to be able to disable audio prompts at all, but that also seems impossible (at least on iOS).

  • Update April 11, 2025:

Our engineers are investigating a concern with Audio prompts distance, being given to the thousandth decimal place. They are looking into addressing this with a future software update. Once there are any further details, I will post here again.

  • Many thanks. It’s good to see things getting picked up and looked at.

  • Yep - and as you can't shut the blumin voice prompts off when navigating, it's even more annoying every time it interrupts my podcast!
